I will be going in today and buying scratch and feed so I don't have to go to Big Acre for a couple of weeks!! I love the little chicks, but really would like to let my slikies hatch out a few. I MUST be strong!! Please, Krisrose, hold me back!!

I got several of my chickies there last year. They get some of their chicks from Townline. Two of the banties I got there last year are mixed. The Seabright look-alike with the single comb that I need to re-home and a little roo who must be part Mille Fleur but has something else mixed in. I hope to keep him. He really is a beauty with orange and gold feathers, green tail and black/white polka dots on his chest. He has a pretty nice temperment, too. But I wasn't too thrilled with the mixed birds from there.
I, too need to stay away as we have about 45 eggs in the bator. But do tell...who are they selling this week? ??? Just out of curiosity, of course. Hamiltons in Ortonville gets a nice variety of birds, too. I did get my one Isa Brown at Big Acre. She is a nice girl and lays a beautiful huge brown egg. If you're looking for a good layer try them. Nicer personality than our RIR's. They are little nosey.

Thanks for the info. I can live without more of those!
Hamilton's is in downtown Ortonville, right off of M-15(Ortonville rd.) maybe 20 minutes south of Davison, 20 minutes north of I-75. Besides the egg layers, last year I got black cochins, silkies, brahmas and mille fleurs from them. Call them and they will tell you, week by week ,who is coming. They seem to really support the 4-Hers and quite often have fancy birds in. They order a lot from Murray McMurray. They also get lots of ducks, geese and turkeys. Happy shopping!

Cool, if/when you know you'll be there, let me know, I'll see about popping in and saying hi.

Tororider, Those are MY roosters on Craigslist!. No takers here on this site. My next stop is a sign at the feed store. My neighbor was over here the other day complaining. We both have 6 acres mind you but he says"They crow all day long. To me it's like barking dogs" Yep, roosters crow all day long. Seriously though, I need to move some of these boys out. Somebody out there must need a cool rooster.

It's hard to place roosters. They are the prettiest but nobody ever seems to need more it seems like.
I have a brooder with 9 cockerels in it now. Mostly marans... they'll probably all end up in freezer camp.

Best of luck finding them homes.

Timing is everything....if it were next year I'd gladly give that speckled sussex a home. Right now all I have is 14 chicks and no place to keep them and a rooster seperated.

Toro, Don't apologize. I thought it was pretty ironic. It just helps me spread the word. I actually got a reply and someone wants one.
Unfortunately, I'm the kind of person who just can't eat my pets. Every one of them has a name, darn it! I have three little boys. They would freak! If someone else wants to do that to them I just don't want to know about it!
I have eggs in the bator. No doubt, many will be boys, also.

Last year, I was able to sell several roos. This is our first flock and they were all chicks last year. I ended up with a load of roos but I kept all of those listed as I hoped to have separate pens by now. That's not going to happen any time soon and the girls are pretty fed up with their adolescent shinanigans(sp?).
