Wow, been a few days since I checked in and it has been really busy here!

Congrats Boyd!

I never knew that about Herons! I've had a few over here and now that I have ducks and chickens I'll have to keep a closer eye on them! The area where my coop and duck house is right near our come and go waterline.

I've had some excitement here over the last couple of days, the night before last was the first night that pretty much all my chickens went to bed on their own, all except for Snickers. Snickers is my evil little EE. She runs around and literally buries herself when we go in to lock them up for the night. Anywho, she had run under the coop and I followed her under to herd her out, when I was making my way back out my kneecap went out of joint

I literally had to push it back on and make my way back up to the house. This has resulted in me having a severe sprain to my knee and now I am in an immobilizer for the rest of the week

I dont know who is crazier Snickers or me for actually crawling in after her!

Iluvcks-

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!! That is what our rental house had to do a few years ago. The township wasn't happy, especially with the State being a higher authority over them!

Sorry about the passing of your uncle. We will miss you on Saturday. I won't worry about the pies, you have enough on your plate. I am bringing some desserts, so I will bring apple crisp- dutch apple pie minus the crust

Enjoy your flock

Thanks, but yes... I was joking. I've never shot anything in my life. My DH took me out last Summer to target shoot so that I would know how to use the gun if I had to. Let's just hope I never have to, because I don't think I could. Doesn't mean I can't be so ticked off at the darned thing that I can have some wishful thinking.

iluvcks: Way to fight the power! Too bad it still sounds like your township is going to be buttheads about this. But it's not as if they have better things to do with their time then harass you - oh, wait

.

YakLady: We have a Blue Heron that always comes to our pond to try to eat up our Bluegill, so we trained our German Shepard to deal with it. If we see the heron, we let her out and say "Pteradactyl!", and she instantly runs into the backyard and chases it off.

iluvcks, awesome news!! Be sure to post on the thread about this subject, so others can hear your success!! Congratulations!! So sorry to hear about your uncle and you not being able to come this weekend, but perfectly understandable. We will miss you. Hope things settle down soon and you can post more often!

iluvcks, that is great news! My BIL just got a ticket for having his birds

I have been telling about the RTFA. He has a lot on his plate right now so I don't know what he is going to do.

Boyd, little Timmy looks like you! Congrats!
Ramsdale, sorry to hear about your Knee. I hope you heal quickly!
Scrummycat, sorry to hear about your loss.

I was up very late last night trying to get the painting done inside the "new" coop. Hopefully tomorrow we can put the vinyl flooring down and get the divider walls put up. FIL is going to come over and help with the hoop house run on Thursday. I am praying for no rain for the next few days. It can rain anytime after Saturday. I will post pics whenever we get done.

Rise n shine!!!

Hope everyone has a great day today.

I for got to mention my little find yesterday... I was out with the dog and saw one of them start to mouth something black in the grass..... thinking it was pooh or some other form of nastyness I told her to leave it and went to investigate. It was a little fledgling robin. It was dark out so I brought him in and dried him up.... he was soaking wet and all hunched up and shivering. I gave him some water and kept him inside for the night so he could stay warm and dry. This morning as soon as it got light, I set him back outside. He was very active and churping away! When I checked on him before leaving, his parent was there to feed him. I hope he makes it ok.

It's a good morning to sit and drink coffee. I have gone out and let the birds out and checked on the status of the eggs in the incubator. Yesterday I had 38 eggs in it, this morning there are 37. Yep one bantam orpington is sitting there, just about dried, wondering where am I.
