For some reason I can't seem to get it in gear this morning. Having a task that is giving me fits has robbed me of my initiative. Yesterday I put a very expensive telescope together for a customer and now they want me to calibrate it and set up the computer driven program that runs it. I read the instruction manual for several hours last night and again this morning and I think I've broken my brain. Talk about complicated. Why couldn't the thing have been made out of wood.

I think I'll put the telescope manual away for now and go pick raspberries. I think I'm probably smart enough to handle that. Besides we are almost out of raspberry freezer jam.

Good evening and what a fine day. I did get a shock this morning as I went to the bantan coop to hear a crow coming from a little nankin/OEG cross we named Cloe. I broke the news to my DD. I guess its name is claude then hugh? Yup. No matter. "Claude" is sweet and sweet roos are welcome to stay.

The firefly light show has been great lately, maybe we will light a bond fire tonight and sit out and enjoy the show. Sounds good eh?

Worked for a while on the new chicken ark I'm building for the bantams. I'm using 1/2"x1" weld wire on it so that I could have bantam chicks in it and not worry about them getting out.

I'm a firm believer in the adage "we are never to old to learn". Tonight I learned that blackberry cobbler has the power of speech. I know for a fact that I just heard it call my name.

Good morning.

Blackberry cobbler is my all time favorite. Nothing ripe around here yet. But the raspberries and blackberries are very full. The blueberries look ok.

Right now we have 6 nest boxes in the layers coop and 5 of them have broodies in them. Only 2 have eggs under them. When a hen wants to lay an egg she climbs on top of a nice feathey pillow that is in the nest box. Very funny to watch.

My 7 year old hates the noisy frogs at night. I love them, helps me go to sleep.

Bah humbug, I thought it was supposed o get brighter in themorning not darker.

Here comes a storm. Darn, weather.

Morning, actually got to sleep late today, haven't had much coffee yet, and slightly cranky.

On a brighter note, I brought some roosters to Geyer's yesterday morning and sold all 3 5 month roosters for more than I expected.

Forgot to add.... They have an all natural mixed feed now. $9.37 for 50 lbs. I decided to give it a try since it is very similar to the feed I use now.

Good Morning!

Great Job Blue Moon! I got a check for the cockerals I took last week and they got 50 cents a piece. I am just glad I am not feeding them anymore

Long night last night, went to Kalamazoo Speedway. Jon was the last feature and we got home at 2:30am! Jon lost by a foot to a high school kid. It was his first feature win and is probably still on cloud 9!

Nascar racer, Johnny Benson, was there last night too racing. He is a great driver and the local guys did well and gave him a run for his money! Johnny won and I got a few pictures of him last night as he got his win picture in front of us. He is going to be there next weekend too racing.

Nathan was then up throwing up twice. 2 loads of wash done and Nathan is feeling great this morning

1st storm woke me up at 8am. The 2nd storm went around us.

Off to the grocery store.

I got 4 dollars for the two evil twins, and 6.25 for one of the pretty dark red ones. I still have 3 at home in the bachelor pad, but we decided to wait on those.

One is a black copper maran, the other is like one of main roosters Houdini ( Olive egger ) but he has a single comb. The third one we decided to let stay behind for a little longer is a very pretty dark red and black. He's a black copper maran, just dark dark red, and black. Very friendly too. He's the only one out of those three who most likely will stay, and get a group of girls of his own.

Rain sure is putting a cramp on the things I wanted to do. I've taken the chicken ark as far as I can until I can go to a quality lumberyard that will have the wood siding that I want to use. This down turned economy sure makes building things tough.

Picked raspberries again this morning and didn't get very many but the bushes are loaded and Tuesday should be great. I really like the fact that I just have to walk across the street to get them and you can't beat the price, FREE. I've picked about 6 quarts so far and should be able to get that many again. Raspberry freezer jam is Hope's favorite and my granddaughter always says she just wants Opa's jelly.

Anyone know what the humidity level is? I think it must be 100%

Ok, I guess according to weatherbug it is currently 74% but it feels like 100%. My one neighbors are retired, they have no pets anymore. Their elderly dogs passed away. They called me and said they seen a white duck and babies in the back yard, was I missing some? Well, I wasn't but I went anyway, because they didn't know who else to call.

It was a muscovy and 5 babies. It took all afternoon but we finally caught mom and 3 babies after 3 attempts. At one point we went home and she came back out of hiding and was walking the babies down the road. I know muscovy's do fairly well in the wild, but the babies can't fly and will be easy bait for the fox, coyote and coons in the area. The other babies are holed up in some really think brush and we can't find them. We are hoping they come out soon looking for mom. I am scraped, itching, hot, sticky (even after a shower) and feeling defeated by 2 ducklings that can't be over 2 weeks old!
