Beautiful baby. The nicest thing about babies is that they belong to someone else. Having raised 3 sons of my own and helping with 5 others I think all of my kid raising is used up. When Hope's grandkids visit it is wonderful to have them. For a while. Then I suddenly think, Okay you can take them home now.

It's probably just as well that I'm not responsible for any little guys now. I'm having a tough time be responsible for chicks. The coop I have the broody in is a divided house with two cages attached back to back. The bottom of the house is wire grid and it's larger than a bantam chick. I lost one that feel through a hole is the temporary cardboard floor that I had failed to cover. Unfortunately the large fowl discovered her before I did. So I belatedly place a small mesh on the floor of both the cage and the side of the house that the hen and remaining chick are in. This afternoon I found that chick was now missing. Where the back to back cages abut the house there is a 1 1/4" gap. The chick had gone through that gap and into the other side of the house where there is not mesh. She had fallen through. Evidently it happened shortly before I discovered her missing. It is amazing how fast a little chick can run. It must have taken me 15 minutes to catch her.

I know what you mean. My DH put 1 inch welded wire fence over the cat carrier I have a broody and two chicks in. the chicks kept getting out and driving her crazy. they just hatched on thursday and already so independant. lol

Oh yes, she's a HUGE help! She loves to read and she took over my hospital bed and read a bunch of books to him. We're all doing great and he is a very very good baby.

Always good to see new folks!!

Time to sweat again. Leaving the dog inside. He followed me when I went to dump weeds on the brush pile in back. Poor old guy, he still hasn't cooled down.

Working on cleaning the downstairs where the play room and kids bedrooms are. Never ending job! Emily was given a loft bed and Gretchen a futon/bunkbed thing. so rearranging and cleaning all the rooms. Nathan is now in a twin size bed

I am sure we won't run out of things to get done. Actually we need to take it easy on the chore list, the boys were already complaining that we are staying home for vacation cause we do too much work at home. So a little fishing, biking, a trip to Independance Lake, and the Monroe Fair is this week too. And maybe a movie on a rainy day.

Good morning everyone, Well I have the two windows in the coop, I am so happy!

It was so stuffy in there. I bet my chickens are happy too. Little by Little I am getting things done.
