haha I want some too, but Cricket gets everything before me LOL.

Plus, can't drive very far for a week or so. If anyone has any laying (or near laying) hens they want to get rid of let me know!

Good luck Cricket!

OOoOooOOoooOOooo!!! ME ME ME!! I've been looking for some specks!!! How old are they? When can I get them? and I love you.

Ok...here's some pictures and comments are below them...

Hannah (my daughter) and Rose, one of our speckled hens

what do you think?? Is "#1" a rooster??
7110_roo2.jpg

Is #2 a rooster?
7110_roo1.jpg

and, is #3 a rooster? I'm thinking the 3 above are roosters...looking at the combs and tails. they're just not as mature as my "keeper" roo's. These three Roo's are all available $5 each and are 4months old

Young pullet, $10 for her...she's getting some nice color on her!
7110_hanred.jpg

Hannah and "Big Red"...he's a sweet boy...he is FREE!!! And if you take him I will give you the BIG hen that came with him once my hens start laying in a month or so. I want to keep her around until they start laying though so that I at least get some sort of eggs! I can send him away now (he's not allowed in the coop cause he's huge compared to my young speckleds) so he needs to go to a home now and she can get picked up later.

Jen,

How old is your pullet? There's an age gap in my hens so I'm looking for someone whose just about to come into laying. My egg boom won't be till this November

. I really want some sussex'ssss and marans. I'm not much into white eggs so I'm looking for colors. I have a few EEs and I get my green, pink and blues. I'm looking for a decent brown/dark brown layer.

Maybe I'll put an ad out on CL and go to the animal auctions on Saturday morning. Keyt, wanna go with?

I'd absolutely LOVE to, but I (well, actually my daughter) won't have any money til a week from Friday. Even more so (actually, a lot more) after the 1st. So, unfortunately I can't

Woah, those are some gorgeous speckleds! I'd love to get my hands on some of those! Unfortunately we are full up on roos, I just need some layers. BAD.

I picked up a few Plymouth Rocks several days ago. One is a very faithful two-a-dayer, but the other two won't do a thing but eat. All of our chickens are spoiled rotten, so it's not that they don't get enough to eat. I just don't understand why the other two won't do anything. I thought since they were faithful layers where I got them (I at least saw them laying on eggs, so I assumed they were good layers there), that maybe the one who does produce would push the other two to do something. The rest (like the RIR) are young yet so I'm hoping they will begin to lay soon!

Any help?

She's one of my younger ones...only about 2 months old-ish. My "older" ones are about 4 months old so I'm counting down the weeks until they start! That's why I took in the pair of Buff's...the hen is laying every other day and I needed SOMETHING laying in my coop lol. I plan on hatching out Speckleds once they get into laying real well and will be offering hatching eggs and chicks. I live right next to you in Holt so we live close enough to get together with birds!

This breed is soooo wonderful but for some reason are very hard to find, I'm hoping to help change that! I'll have to get a picture of the two roo's I'm keeping...soooo pretty! Most of my hens look like the one named "Rose" from the first picture in my post. They have very nice even speckled patterns.
