The big white one with the black/white feathers looks like a Light Brahma

Yeah that's what I thought too...even has the feathers on her legs like one. there's two of those, the little leghorn, one that I am fairly certain is a black austorlorp and the one in the first picture with the brown head I think is just a mutt.

The first one, the black with brown head, although it's really hard to tell, looks like a combo of my Welsummer and Australorp! They're all pretty!!

So, my rooster issue is getting bad. Over the weekend I separated one of my BLRW roo brothers because he killed two of my favorite pullets. I put him in with the ducks because he won't go near them and all he did was crow....ALL DAY! I'm fortunate to have extremely nice neighbors! Yesterday I'd had enough, so today I put his brother in there thinking he would shut up. Nope. Now they're BOTH crowing. Not as much as the one did yesterday but it's no longer the crowing a few times a day either!

I know they want to be in where the females are, but i can't trust the one. We don't have the money right now to do another expansion or set up another separate area. I've been looking on craigslist to see if anyone's giving away supplies like pallets or old wire or wood fence but of course I only see that stuff when I don't need it! I can't exactly give them away because most people have more than one chicken and I don't know what the roo would do, and they are Aric's boys and he's not ready to give them up yet. My hope was to have him breed with one of the hens and come up with some gorgeous offspring because they are both (especially the deadly one) absolutely gorgeous! But if he's going to kill hens while in the process, well I just can't have that happen!

Aric is out in the barn/garage/man cave. Maybe he'll get sick of listening to the boys and tell me to find something else to do with them LOL

Well I finally had to seperate my Speckled Roo's. I think their main problem is this new RIR roo in the next run over. They hadn't really fought until recently and I've noticed little nicks on thier combs and this morning I had to litterally drag one the them off the other. The larger one, Chief, is not instigating the fights...Radar is. And I have the same problem you do Keyt! I want to keep them both for breeding purposes...Cheif is big, pretty and nicely marked. And Radar is a good size roo himself but he has a better tail (the feathers are very nice!) and has a high-white factor that I really like. (he has quite a bit of white on him) I need to get rid of that RIR roo and then I'm going to trying putting them back together when the stress of another roo crowing is gone and see if they knock it off. If not I'll seperate them out and swap hens with them when I start putting eggs in the bater!

I thought about that...I have a co-worker/friend who is vietnamese and I just gave her those 5 hens I was trying to get rid of. Her family had 5 fresh chickens for christmas dinner!

She plucks and all that good stuff so I might ask if she'd be willing to butcher him for me since I gave her the hens. She doesn't like roosters, prefers hens that are laying because they're more tender...I told her she's too picky and chicken is chicken!

Christmas was just fine... it is the aftermath this year... seems everything is falling apart around me... I just hope and pray 2011 will not be a bad year. My heart is breaking...
