Just browsing Craigslist tonight and came across an ad for India Blue Peacocks. If not for the homing issue with adult birds I'd be snatching these boys up. I've always wanted a couple India Blue mascots for the place.
YAYEE!!! I candled my eggs that are in the incubator (day 5) and it looks like about 97% of the eggs are fertile and growing!
I must have a bunch of fertile mertels out there! I also found one that I didn't know had a small crack...bleh...good thing I found that one right away!
So in a couple weeks I'm looking at about 35-40 new Speckled Sussex chicks.
I am planning to let some of the kids in the youth group I help out with hatch and care for these chicks when the hatch, with the help of there parents of corse. Then they will be added to my coop. The breeds I am looking for are Australorps, and Welsummers
or Marans french variety. I would prefer Welsummers over Marans. They do not need to be from show quality birds, but I am looking for pure breeds. I cant pay a ton for the hatching eggs but I am only interested in getting 6 at a time, and I am only looking for 6 of each type. I would like to be able to pick up the eggs instead of having them shipped. I will not need these hatching eggs for at lest a month. I will be hatching out some of my Dominique and later in the year I will be hatching some Speckled Sussex if anyone is interested in a trade or partial trade of chicks or hatching eggs.
Slowest countdown EVER, but... by the end of this month we will have less than 60 days left.
Dawn, if you can't find any closer you're welcome to 6 of my Australorp eggs, you'd have more in gas coming to get them than you would just buying them from someone else though.
