Went to TSC today for feed and found out that they will have chicks in early March. Also had all their gardening stuff out

Mrs Chickendad - PM sent.

Aunt Jenny - Well, local is 1 1/2 hours away in Howell, MI. He has beautiful, healthy birds that lay eggs at about 7 on the Marans scale.

Sure is nice to wake to temperatures that are a little more bearable. It's been a long time since I've seen 30 for a wakeup temp. As much as I want to see the snow gone I am hoping that it will leave slowly. Less flooding and a lot less mud.

I do wonder how long this warming spell will last. Some of the worst storms we've had have come in March and I've turkey hunted in the snow and that hunting season isn't until the last part of April. So I will enjoy our respite but won't get to excited or anxious to start spring preperations until it actually gets here.

Oh we will get more snow. I have pics of my husband rototilling the garden in shorts and a ton of snow the next day. I am always dumping snow out of my tulips so they don't snap over.

Mish~ thanks for the reply. 1 1/2 drive is not to bad.. I do worry about shipping.

Good Morning everyone!

It was so nice to go out and feed and water all the critters without freezing to death before I got the water out there.

Ive got a broody frizzle. I went to look for eggs and she is flattened out over top of them and threatened to peck out my brain if I attempted to gather them. I dont mind, but she will never sit long enough to hatch out muscovy eggs.

I plan on having some eggs sent to me to hatch at the end of the month. Her timing is off!

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend.

Hey Mish I found this ad on CL. They are in Lapeer and have a picture of the birds for you to look at. Maybe this is what you are looking for! Goodluck.

I checked last week on Craigslist & didn't see anything. I like the Wheaten color so I'll see if it works out with Mrs Chickendad first. Thank you AuntJenny, I'm really happy to have a second option now too.

'Afternoon, all!

It was such a nice day out there. I can't wait for even warmer temps and more thawing. Still a LOT of snow out there.

Had an interesting experience with a predator today. About mid-morning I was on the phone, walked by the family room window and there's a fox about five feet from the house, by the garden, trotting towards the tree line. I figured he'd probably already had his way with my birds and was stalking off. I dropped the phone, ran through the house, let the varmint dog out, grabbed the gun and went out myself. Not only did the fox disappear without a trace -- my dog didn't even see it when she went out. Not a feather on any bird was harmed. They're all free-range, everyone was outside -- even the young ones and not one of them was harmed. I couldn't believe it. We'll see if he comes back...
