I was just down there and I have one of the Barred Rocks that was laying there and wasn't looking well. I picked it up and moved it over to the water. It got some water standing with one foot in the waterer. Really it took quite a bit of water. She was wet but didn't seem to care. I moved it to the feeder and she was in between the other chicks that are just bouncing around all over the feeder. She stumbled in there and took some feed. She really is struggling to stay standing up. I hate loosing them.

By the way.... Grand Daughter is getting better. Back to Daycare today. It was nice spending the day with her. Would have been even better if she wasn't sick.

I sent an Email to MyBackYardChicken.com this morning. The chicks were ordered through them. I'll post their response when & if I get one......

Too funny, and too true, Opa! Once a year meal- you should come cook for me weekly.

Those goose pictures are the BEST. Made us all want one here. definitely.

I just had to seperate a drake fight out in the yard- it was so bad, I finally went out there with a broom and seperated them. Both my muscovy drakes are FULL of mud, broken feathers, and they are out of breath.
Tell me, will they actually fight to the death? These two wouldnt quit, wings spread, they were ROLLING in the mud- each had a bite-hold of the other. They spilled the water pan and made one heck of a mud mess. They are FULL of mud. I should bring each one in and give them a shower- but my arm is too bad.

I am having surgery in the morning. Out patient. They are going to filet my arm like a fish, and clean out whatever heebiejeebies has abscessed and caused the cellulitis.

They told me to expect to be there for six hours. *sigh*

Thank you everyone for the compliments on my pictures, yeah he's a happy boy. Had him to the vet today for a check up and wing trim because he flew up and off our deck and nearly into our neighbors yard. And the vet was so amazed at how calm he was, he said his heart beat was so calm and slow wasn't stressed at all. He encouraged me to get a stool sample from him to rule out any parasites as well as my ducks, basically a yearly thing just to rule out anything and with them coming into our house with no diapers yet and cleaning up better to be safe then sorry. He was a little under weight, but it's breeding season and he's a male and has other things on his mind other then eating. I'm ordering a diaper from Netti on the duck thread so he can pretty much be an indoor goose. Yeah I'm a little(ALOT)weird but hey? WHY be normal!? But I do have to say, his temperament is incredibly tempting to me wanting another goose, but I think I will just stick with him as a house pet, and have the ducks earn their keep by providing us eggs.

Didn't keep my scovies long enough to find out but the word on the street is that yes, they will fight to the death. Of course, so will geese and I keep ganders together. *shrug* I had to break up a to-the-death gander fight last fall, I put one of the offenders in time out for a few hours (in a dog crate right on the lawn, still in view of the rest of the gaggle) and when I let him back out they were fine -- and have been since. You can give it a try with the scovies and see where it gets you, but YMMV.

FunnyBunnie, love the pictures, very sweet, especially the one with the goose sleeping in your sons arms. Thanks and prayers for a safe return for your hubby.
