Hello world!!

This was one of the first who hatched and is super friendly: she likes to cuddle, sleep in my sweatshirt pocket and poop on my laptop lol. I'm pretty sure she's a she, I've only feather sexed her so far. Too young and fragile to turn her upside down and vent sex right now. Tomorrow is my due date and so far 12/21 have hatched so far! there are are five more that are pipped.

I'm totally not going to get any sleep tonight.

Congrats Cricket...she's adorable. By the way...I haven't done my mites in my hens (they are separate from my chicks...different coop)...but I decided to go with the pyrethium spray for coop and grounds, and changed my mind from Frontline drops to Sevin . They are both controversial but was worried about the eggs with frontline. So will do the "sevin in a bag...chicken all but head in bag" and shake method. Yesterday I bought a turtle sandbox with cover along with 150 lbs of sand. I will add the diamateous earth powder to that and put in the run . The bad thing about this whole thing is we have to do it all again in two weeks! Oh well...these red comets are such good egg layers...makes it worth the trouble.

My 13 5 day old BBS chicks are doing great and I get my 24 BBs jersey giant chicks this week from Wynette and Maria Hall. Yipeeeee

Well one of dogs went off her food for 2 days, so I went and poked around in the yard trying to figure out what she was filling her belly with, found a trio of headless coons, LOL.
She only ever eats the heads the kids say its because she doesnt like her food looking at her,LOL.
Momma and baby coons out in the barn, good dog. Dogs full of heads grossss...
I don't know if the coons were after the chickens, hope there friends don't come to visit.

Dogs, you gotta love em. Wonder what it is that makes them want to eat or roll in such nasty stuff. A JRT I once had loved to eat and then roll in goose droppings. Of course I'd always discover this just after she'd jumped into my lap. Or sometimes she'd regurgitate something nasty and I wouldn't even want to think about what it may have been.

Hey Ferret! I just picked up some adult chewables (like gummy bears) from Sam's club - no stomach issues at all and I must say that I really enjoy them - hard to not snack on them!!!!!!!!!!

I have a pretty good hatch rate so far. 8 out of my 9 and 10 out of 13 for my marans that I bought locally. All of the marans have pipped, I will wait until later on this evening to open the incubator.

I must say, the two little mixed breeds that I hatched out are going to be uber adorable! One is a lt brahma x americauna (looks like a chipmunk with feather feet) and an ISA x americauna (whose just blonde with puffy cheeks). I sure am glad that I decided to incubate those two, they'll be my special little halfbreed babies
