Hi, Karen, thanks! I got my coop from Mike at Destiny Farms two years ago, didn't think of there, don't think they had Sebrights then. I will check it out!

Got up at 445am and decided to go out and get donuts so that they would be here when Granny & Hope awake. Man am I ever glad I wore a jacket. Cold, wet, and windy. Brrrr. Still that much better than what so many others in the country are facing weatherwise.

Yesterday I started building a tabletop hatcher. I'm hoping to have it done quickly so that I can use it for this batch of maybe eggs. As I posted this batch sat for 10 days without turning so I'm not very hopeful. I haven't candled since placing them in a working turner so I guess I find out Tuesday when I place them in lockdown.

Memorial Day weekend Hope & I are going to Flatwoods, KY to meet my oldest son Joe at his wife's brother's house. They are driving from SW Missouri to Elizabeth hometown for the weekend and he's bringing a 1/2 a side of beef and a 1/2 a hog for me. Hopefully the weather will be much improved and make for a nice scenic drive. I'm looking forward to seeing them and I'm sure my granddaughter Morgan has probably grown a foot since last fall.

Mom...those chocolates are adorable! Very cute.

Keyt...I'm sorry to hear the news.....you have had one thing after another haven't you? Hope you feel better and mend soon.

Neat photo Opa....sure wish is would turn sunny and warm however!

So the turner WAS broken...what a bummer. Hope some still hatch.
Memorial day weekend plans sound great....and the side of beef and 1/2 a hog great too!!!

Fifelaketrooper-

How many do you want? Ill bring them to you at Chickenstock!

Keyt- dont forget that muscovy eggs take 35-40 days..

Opa-
I found myself not knowing what to do with my gosling and older ducklings this morning. It has been in the house at night, out at first light. Well, they were ready to go out, and its pouring. I put them in their shelter- they were convinced it was a crock pot and ran out...and its cold and raininig hard. The gosling doesnt have feathers yet. I will probably bring him back in in a few minutes.
Yay for a side of beef and pork. We get ours from my brother in law every year.

what are "walls of water"??? Sounds like something my gramps may have done- I cant really recall it..Im trying..lol. I must have been too much teenager, and too dumb to pay attention to the important stuff back then.

Having Mike so close is a little dangerous! We got our coop from him, as well as some chicks and ducks last year. I blame my addiction on him!

Mom- Those ducklings are too cute! I wish I didn't see that photo. My ducklings are hopefully getting out of the brooder in a few weeks. Good thing I don't have room for more right now!

With the rooster gone, it was eerily quiet this morning. So strange. And what's stranger, I think I miss my annoying alarm clock (my neighbors probably don't).

No thanks on the cute duckies...I'm getting a little overwhelmed with the all the chick hatching as it is....I had a year with NO chickens and no I have 31 with 27 more in incubator! Yikes.

Walls of water....they are plastic....green usually...and are about 2 ft. tall....they are a circle made of accordian pleats that open up. You fill EACH pleat with water....when you fill them you must have a bucket upside down over your plant. Then after each cylinder is full of water you pull up and away the bucket and the walls of water remain surrounding your tender plant. We got like 30 of them when a local hardware closed out. They are a PAIN to fill and set up....I always end up soaked with water myself. However...they do protect from frost which we are getting here tonight and tomorrow...darn it.
I have to go cover up a zillion budded out flowers and shrubs or once again admit defeat to mother nature.
