It was right when swine flu began so I got the full isolation treatment.

Ha, vomiting in general seems to get their attention at the ER. Long before swine flu (well, technically, it was *after* the first swine flu scare of the '70's but before the more recent one...) I went to the ER with a nasty migraine that had had me vomiting for three days straight. I was pretty empty by then so didn't vomit for maybe a couple hours, and sat in the waiting room being ignored. (Okay, it was not life-threatening after all...) Then I started heaving again. *Immediately* someone rushed me into an exam room, brought me a basin, and the doctor was with me shortly. I'm sure they will do a lot to minimize clean-up of that stuff. I do not blame them one bit.

This was before the introduction of the triptan meds for migraine (Imitrex and its relatives). While no joy ride, and not a perfect solution, they have kept me out of the ER for years now...

Im allergic to most all pain meds, last winter I was in a bad accident, So they offered me some morphine , I and my husband BOTH informed them that I was VERY allergic to morphine, that jackass bent right over and plunged the needle in my arm anyways, I vomited for 3 days, couldn't breath and broke out in a rash all over, on top of having a concussion a fractured orbital, and other things ....I would rather have been in 10 times more pain then the vomiting with the concussion. Allegiance Health in Jackson gorgeous hospital, awful staff. I do not like doctors . grumble grumble....

Five ran away, but she got IRIS DAWN, the smallest one who I'd named after my Mom. Im so sick I could scream!!

oooo, Bunni!! SO sorry about Iris Dawn!

As you know, I also have named all my hens after female relatives (or in one case, after both a relative and a certain BYC'er

). Most of the relatives I have so "honored" (and I really do mean it that way!) have passed, and when you lose a chicken named for a deceased family member, I think it makes it even harder 'cause it blends in your mind with the loss of the namesake person as well. At least it does for me... I've lost 3 in two years, Lucinda (middle name of my aunt Edna, who got 2 chickens named for her--luckily Edna Chicken is still with us); Clara (named for my paternal grandmother), and Martha (DH's grandmother). So just as naming chickens at all is going to make any losses more painful, naming them for our loved ones makes it even more wrenching I think. And yet I get so much joy out of thinking about the relatives every time I chill with the chickens that I wouldn't change it. Betty the New Hampshire Red is named after my mother who passed away before I owned chickens, and every day I talk to her with love (well, honestly, she is on the whole easier to get along with than my mother was at times...

) I am sorry that Mom Betty never got to meet Chicken Betty. If chickens have an afterlife, maybe they will meet there. So maybe the Iris Dawns are hanging together now.

I am sure Iris Dawn was a very special chicken since you gave her the most special name. Love up the rest of your babies and find another home for the dog if you can. Dogs are only following their natures when they kill our chickens (Martha was killed by two stray beagles...) but if it's a dog with that nature, they will do it again and again if they get the chance. Let us know what you decide about the dog. And--

Want my lawyer's number? I have a similar reaction to novacaine, except mine comes with seisures. it's within minutes and quite violent. Apperantly it wasn't his only instance of giving a drug with a known reaction, he's no longer practicing.

Hello all! I think I have caught up with all the posts-

sorry for those that have had losses- it is rough when they are the special ones that are killed/die. No other chicken has taken my Carmen's place here, I definitely understand.

Hope the hiccups have stopped for those afflicted.

Raz, glad you got your power back on.

Opa, is that the stray EE that your neighbor found?

Chickmate- thank you for trying to help me find a home for the goose. I really need to find it a home- I foresee terrible goose fights in my future.

Im not sorry that I saved him/her but it sure does make it rough on me.Seems a good home is hard to find. Especially living in the suburbs where everything is illegal to own. It would love to join Henry and Penelope, but those two arent allowing it. So, they stay on one side of the yard and he stays on the other- and when I go outside, I get an earful. They all tell me all about how WRONG everything is. lol

We fixed my van- new serpentine belt and radiator- however I need a new power steering pump now. All the power steering fluid pours right out of it. Thats an expense that will have to wait a bit.

Keyt- I have been meaning to ask- the chick I got from you, was your serama the rooster? I am questioning the paternity because it is so tiny compared to the showgirl..and the wings point downward like a serama. Cutest little mystery chick ever and so so tiny. Just about a little bigger than a cotton ball.

Proof that I need adult supervision when going to Chickenstock is these two turkens. Didnt even dawn on me that they were standards. They are going to tower over my banty flock. Right now they are so tall compared to the showgirl and that little dwarf I got from Keyt. lol. and they are just chicks.
Nestor the rabbit is tons of fun- I will take him in to be neutered soon. Just as soon as I recover from this months expenses. I need to take him to work to trim those nails. My daughters are going to Flint with my mom this morning for three days. They are going to crossroads village. I promised my daughter I would take good care of Nestor while she is gone.

I hope you all have a great day. I work until six. One day, perhaps, my supervisor will get a clue on how to make a schedule and keep schedules consistent. Or maybe she will find another job and go away...until then, I just do what I am told...and grumble...

Hiccups are hapily, gone. Discussed numbers with the lawyer today (i sleep odd hours) and he told me i should ask for twice the amount. guess i'm an underachiever (or not greedy enough?) I'd just like it to be over with, so i can get out of limbo and get on with life again.

In the mean time I have a small tractor that would fit a few banties, but i'm trying to be good. (I may break down and get more coturnix eggs to hatch till we move).

The free EE rooster is the bird that my egg customers brought me. He's young, healthy, and rather attractive but I definitely don't need a 5th rooster.
