Judy! I LOVE that bench!! I think I need to get Aric onto making me a similar one! He refinished an old coffee table that's been in my family since I was born. When we were in 2nd grade, my best friend at the time and I were dancing on it and singing and broke it. Aric was the only one that could fix it! He's amazing with word working sooo now I want a bench LOL

Today is coop cleaning day. We had planned on getting up extra early to beat the heat but we were out far too late fishing last night and didn't get to bed til about 2 am. Now my butt is dragging. Oh well, gotta do what we gotta do!!

Today is also my son's 22nd birthday. Sadly his girlfriend and her mother (whom he lives with) won't let him talk to any of his family so I'll just have to wish him happy birthday in my head.

I know, I love it too! Didn't he do a great job? When I saw it at Salvation Army I knew it would make a perfect bench for my porch! It had really tall spindles on the top which he cut down and used for the arms. He sprayed a thick coat of marine varnish over it to help protect is from moisture but I'll still have to cover it when it rains and put it in the shed for the winter. Love, love, love it!

Hello to all. I see several new members since last I posted. Have been reading and trying to catch up on all posts. Whoever said "What are you going to do with all of your ~free~ time when you retire.?. I'm still waiting to find ANY free time.

A few posts back, #21304, tsparrow posted >>I don’t even want to know what happened to the poor girl. Well, I have a Tom gobbling for her and would like to get another hen for him. My Tom is about 5 years old and I am not sure how old they usually get. I really would like to stick with Royal Palms.<<

We have Blue Slate/ Lilac turkeys and Royal Palms. We have six Royal Palm hens that are available. They look a bit ragged right now as they are all coming off nests. AND now they are starting to lay eggs again! If your interested and you pm me, please include a phone number and I'll give you a call. I'm not far from Milan, we get most of our feed at the Milan Elevator.

In my quest for some of that 'free' time we are trying to cut back on the work load around here. That, and I like your post. It shows concern for your tom and your hen. These are nice, friendly, talkative, and healthy birds. When we go in the barn they make it a point to tell us all the current gossip. Although I don't know how much to believe as I think they make some of it up. ;-) Ah, if my friends could see me now. Talking to the birds, turkeys, at that...

There will be no charge for these girls, they have done more than enough for us here. They are all less than two years old and from two different lines.

Jim

I'm SO excited!!!

I finally have a broody duck!!! Yesterday I noticed the Mallard hen sitting on eggs for a long time. There's a community nest in the addition part of the small coop so I thought maybe she was laying. Today when I let them out she was still there. Yesterday my daughter forgot to collect eggs while we were fishing so I went in there to get them and Millie was sitting on almost all of them! Well I took the ones she wasn't sitting on before she could take those too because we have some customers that are patiently waiting for duck eggs.

We NEED more hens too. We had to put a cover over our egg sign because for once we were completely out. We just can't keep up with the demand lately!!

Hello Jim, I have justed pm you, It is fun you said "if my friends could see me now. Talking to the birds, turkeys, at that", my husband was just making fun of me yesterday for talking to the birds as I was cleaning out the pens.. I told him it calms them down.. I think it surprises my husband, I was a city girl turned country by the hubby. During the day I go to work in a suit and come home and throw on the boots.

I had one dog growing up and now I have two dogs, a cat, peacocks, turkey and many chickens. And all of the animals get along. They all come running when they see me.

I can't wait to see them, I have already called my husband.

I had to go to the store today so I made a 5x7 of this for on my desk, these are my first hens and they are at 7 weeks now. I feel so accomplished getting them this far. I had to take 3 shots of them to get one where I can see ALL the faces.
