Is that the same as Pedialyte? I had some extra so I put some in their water a couple times this week. What exactly is Poultry Drench? I don't think I've ever seen it!

While it does some of the same things that Pedialyte will it is better formulated from poultry, less salts and the sugars more readily absorbed in their system. Tractor Supply carries it.

I have one rooster out there just a crowing away today...it's such a happy sound. Glad hubby is out doing a charter today. I sure hope it doesn't mess with his sleep, I'd hate to get rid of him. They are such fun.

Ugh...I just got finished watching the documentary Food, Inc. It makes me want to grow and raise all of my own food. The poultry and soybean sections of the documentary was especially disturbing.

However I did find a vitamen and electrolyte powder by Durvet that I picked up (it was $4 and I had to do quite a bit of math to get that you need about 1/2 tsp per gallon....darn those instructions). It is obviously intended for a much larger scale farm animal operation that what I have. Hopefully it will give my girlies boost because they are slacking on producing eggs. Have you used this product before?

I washed all the waterers and rototilled the run today. With all this rain the run just was icky. The girlies were super excited and started sifting through to see if I had tilled up any goodies.

I did a coop clean too, no run work since it is still grassy. Removed old shavings from the soiled areas and replaced with a bale of fresh! It is finally the first day with reasonable enough temperatures to do so. The old shavings were nice and dry, at least. I worked hard to make sure the coop had good ventilation and didn't allow rain to blow in. It makes me laugh when city folks are aghast at the idea of a chicken coop, citing bad smells, when even before I cleaned, if I stop in mine, all I smell is fresh pine shavings.
