WELCOME to Niser and Rhonda!!

Opa ...glad to hear you will finish by noon so you can avoid the worst of the heat. We may go fishing after 5 tonight....see if we can do better than 0 like we did a few days back!
Picked another quart of blueberries yesterday...our 12 bushes did very well this year and I do believe the scarecrow is keeping the birds off them!

I have been studying my jersey giant roos (6 or 7) that are two months old...I am getting it narrowed down to 2. I will have to decide the "keeper" in the next month and it is tough when I'm still unsure of a few of their sexes!

Hope we have a "not so hot" day today. I have been reading about how sweltering it is in many states and how many chicken raisers are having their birds die from the heat. Sad.

Good morning everyone! I did "chicken" out a bit last night but I did let the girls out about 15min before they usually go to bed. Some didn't care that I opened up the run and went to bed anyway. The others happily pecked around at the scratch i laid out for them. I just watched sleepily in my fold out chair, with my net in-hand, and them skirted them back into the run when I got really sleepy. Not too bad and they seemed happy. easy-peasy

I need to find a swing to put out there under the cherry trees which would be way better than a fold out chair....

Opa, I think you should contact BYC and have your tag changed to Opa-Wan ChicKenobi. That would be AWE.SOME.

Saddina, adorable little incubator...the price tag took my breath away but super cute.

Good Morning everyone!

I had a wonderful busy weekend- have to be at work in two hours now. Its wonderful outside, so nice to have a relief from the humidity.

My daughters slept in a tent in the backyard- in spite of the severe storm that came through. They have electricity in the tent, thanks to an extension cord from the garage- so they have two fans in there, phone chargers, a lamp, etc. They were hooked up.

My geese are not happy about the tent- and have been sounding off all morning long. lol.

I am wondering if anyone of y'all remotely near by me are still hatching eggs? My goofball frizzle wont give up this broody nonsense and Id like to stick a couple chicks under her- but I am going to Tennessee the first week of April. I would like to wait until I get back.
Hmmm- wonder if there are any near where I am going in Tennesee? Nah, forget that- i will have my dog with me. That will be enough trouble.

Have a great day.

If you find anyone, let me know, I have a super broody I'd like to give a few to also.

Ann Arbor and SE Michiganiacs,

I will be down at Ypsilanti at EMU on Thursday if anyone wants some fertile eggs. Kind of a grab bag of sex-link EE crosses and Cochins, possibly Cochin sex link crosses too.

Michickenwrangler-
Id be tempted to get those eggs from you if my broody hadnt been sitting for 351 days already..

She came out of the coop yesterday long enough to announce to the world that she was still alive then took a drink, a bite to eat and ran..literally... right back into the coop.

Rhonda! Glad you found us. Saddina, when I get mad, I cuss in German. Kids really know I'm mad then and to leave the room.... quickly!

Gosh, I wish this humidity would go away. I'm so tired of glowing everytime I step outside.

That's not me crying, it's the way I "glow" whenever I'm outside.

Hello folks!

I am new to BYC, but not new to chickens.

I have taken a few year hiatus from chickens due to a devastating summer of predation 4 years ago (immediately after moving into my old farm house.) Hawks, cats, coons, took their toll my my flock of beautiful Silkies. I ended up giving them away, because I couldn't bare to see any more killed.

For the last few weeks I have been busy building predator proof (I hope) small coops in my back yard (proper - fenced in yard with 2 dogs frequently in it.)

I live in Tecumseh (near Ann Arbor and Adrian,) and own and operate a small animal veterinary hospital in Milan MI.

I have Serama eggs in the incubator (and more arriving shortly,) and have D'Uccles and BTW Japanese Bantams being delivered this week.

I wanted to stop in and introduce myself. I am so excited to have chickens back in my life. I will get pictures posted in the future.

David
