my goofy grandchild, who I simply adore, never wears a matching pair of socks. she is the strangest kid I know, but she's consistant.

On a darker note, Hell hath no fury like a man who's misplaced his remote!! Do you fellow Michiganders and Michichicks feel the ground rumbling?? Ours hasn't not been found in over an hour!!!

On a bright note, I was setting out in the barnyard in my lawn chair tossing scratch to the chickens before we called it a night, picked up one of my Jersey chicks and the other one jumped up on my lap as well!!! Finally, TRUST. They both moved up to my shoulders and eventually let me stand up and walk, slowly, with them still perched, into the coop and put them away. VICTORY.

Big laugh tonight. My little hen Bobbi, a shy bantam d'uccle knocked over a fan in the coop and then backed into a piece of sticky fly paper which got stuck to her legs and bottom.
She ran in circles screaming like she was being attacked. I let her calm down for a minute and then gently lifted her and removed the paper. Big scare for her!

My daughter who is 20 NEVER wears matching socks and they all have to have some kind of print on them so they really stand out. More power to her.

As far as the remote, I'm the queen of that in this house lol. Aric says the only time he gets to even touch it is if I'm not home LOL. But ours doesn't get lost either. It's attached to a piece of yarn and attached to the leg of the couch!

Regarding lost remotes. We keep a back up that is programed to the tv and dvd player (just in case). Many a remote has been found under furniture, out on the dryer, in the refrigerator, etc. Where is the weirdest place you have found or left a remote?

Well my stupid silkie doesn't seem to know she's sick at all.
She spends her day in a quarantine pen in the yard, away from the others. As it got dark we heard an annoyed squawk and figure she must have tried getting over the pen to go in the coop with the others. I put her in the carrier and brought her in for the night, though she wasn't too pleased with the idea and fought me for a few minutes over it.
Overall she was much livelier today than yesterday, and her inner mouth sores don't look any worse, nor any better.

If she fully recovers from this, how long should a quarantine be kept? I haven't seen any information about how long the chickens remain contagious with the fowlpox virus.

From what I've read it can take a month for the sores to heal, but as long as she can eat and breath she should be fine.

As far as keeping birds healthy when going to shows or visiting other chickens, use plenty of hand sanitizer, keep a sanitizing solution (bleach water or other strong sanitizer) for your shoes and wash your bird handling gear well.

This Pox is spread commonly by mosquitoes and lice and contact with sores from one bird to another is another way to spread it. It's prevalent in warmer months, and I think her being broody during the 100 degree temps made her more vulnerable to it.
