oh THEY are pretty, alot like the lt Brahmas I have, in coloring I mean, I know nothing about either.
Dunny thing, the Brahmas both were in a separate nest box today, I went in an hour later and checked, 2 eggs in the one box, none in the other. Obviously different hens laid them, one was smooth and not speckeled at all, the other coarser and lightly speckled. hmmmmmmm:rolleyes:

I have a Black Austrolorp that will frequently share a nest box. Too funny to see two hens in the box at the same time.

Meijers is slightly cheaper per ounce. I have to check that out too. I forget to look at Meijers. I was thinking about starting up a farm in my garage for these stinking things. Just the thought of it though gives me the heebeejeebees. :: shivers ::

I'll man up....one day.

This idea may squick you out more, but dubia roaches are easier to raise than mealworms and eat EVERYTHING, are super easy to care for (big rubbermaid bin, done!), and are great treats for chickens, very good amount of meat and not much chitin. Reptile keepers raise them for critters like bearded dragons, since they aren't smelly, irritating, or difficult like crickets are to raise. Dubia can't climb glass or smooth plastic bins, so unless you drop 'em while fishing them out for treats, no escapes! I raised them for my bearded dragon (he recently died of what we think is old age, he was an adult when I got him and had him for 12 years), and am thinking of raising them again as chicken snacks!

If anyone is interested and in this area, the Armada Grain Co. has 40# of DE for $20.00. They are out of stock right now but will be getting some in next week.

I bought dried mealworms for the girls but they totally ignored them and I never saw any of them eat even one! That was when they were much younger so maybe I'll try again.
Why didn't you guys tell me about Sweet PDZ????

I finally bought some at Armada and my coop smells SO much better! Also sprinkled some on the poop boards. What a difference!

I got another HUGE egg yesterday from my ISA. Even bigger than the last one which, BTW had two yolks that were joined. This one covers my entire palm. Might be a triple yolker! Owwwwie! My EEs are starting to lay as well as I got three green eggs in one box and one in another. One BR is laying but still nothing from the BCMs.

Opa - Check out these neat shoes for your grandaughter's next birthday!
