Hi all, we got home from Troy abt 6:30, hubby dozed on and off the whole hour and a half, drugged up. He's getting around now, one armed, doc said he had one huge hole in that rotator cuff, plus he got a torn muscle pulled back up and reattached that has been hanging for years. will be in a sling for 6 weeks.
thanks everyone for prayers, we had just a dab of rain coming back, about Mt Morris.

Here are some more of my flock,

Sorry to hear about the Lav Orp but I did find out that he might not be a he after all. Apparently they are very hard to sex and that they can look boyish for a long time but actually be a girl. I do hope "he" will be ok. Do you have any vitamins to give him? Could it be the heat?
Also, did you only get two babies out of the hatch?
My hens have cut back on their laying also, maybe due to heat or they are hiding their eggs. I have been letting them free range all day due to the heat. I figure it is easier for them to cool off that way.

Opa, sorry about the hatch and the loss of the little one.

yes, only two hatched, I keep trying to upload a pic but my computer isnt cooperating right now. they are cute little buggars :)

"free willy" looks and acts like a boy, but I will keep my eye on "him" I put him in a brooding box tonight because he was acting funny again. I found him just laying on the ground like he was dead, but when I put him in the box and gave him food and water he perked right back up. I am going to keep him in there for a few days to see if he bounces back. I have to run to the store tomorrow so I will pick up some more vitamins, I needed to get some more anyhow for the two little chickadees. I will keep you updated on "free Willy" if he turns out to be a she...I guess her name will be free wilma haha

Thank you! I am very pleased with these bunch of birds. Now to decide which ones will have to go before winter. I have to be down to 40 max by then. Which means that after butchering the extra cockerals I will have three extra hens.

Hillbilly, wonderful pics of the birds. What a nice assortment.

ChickB glad to hear things went well. Make him follow doctors orders.

Opa - sorry about the chick. We had a hawk visitor today. I had let all the bigger birds out earlier than usual to do some work out there and the hawk came screaching in. At first I thought it was a rabbit in distress or one of the girls caught in the thicket again but then I saw the shaddow. Glad the bantams weren't out right then. I called the dog over to the coop and we stood where the screecher could see us. It circled four times screeching the whole time then took off. Sure glad I was out there working.

Nite all.
