Mom2...hugs and prayers for you and your family...for strength and comfort. I'm so sorry you are going through a very painful time.

ChickwannaB and DianaRoss...sorry to hear of your chick losses. I am almost afraid to say that hasn't happened to me for fear I will jinx my good fortune.

I have taken pictures of the completed RV/coop...but it always seems I am in a rush and haven't time to fiddle with faceboork or BYC pictures....I'll get to it sometime.

I hope everyone can enjoy this day....I think the rain is going to split and go North and South of us and miss us again. Drat it!

I live a few miles from MIS, OO I have race fan stories, we stay in the house all weekend, take back roads to go anywhere and pick up the tons of bottles and trash they leave behind em, but if it wasn't for MIS i don't know how this little town would make it, big $$$ in all those race fans.
Mom2em my prayers for you and yours.

Thanks for the kind words everyone. My survivor is going home to theron this weekend. She'll have lots of banty company there. My big girls spent their first night safe in their coop. I watched the camera feed until about 3 am.

Mom2 we are thinking of you...

I'm sorry you lost your chick. I lost my first bird last night to a predator, one of my silkies. All we found were feathers and one of her feet. The smaller one managed to squeeze out through the chain-link (it's in the house now). The Isas were unscathed. I don't know what it was but knowing it would be back I got to work. I made a platform for my daughter's plastic playhouse, covered the windows with hardware cloth, and installed a lock. I also put up a security camera with night vision so I can keep an eye out. I feel so guilty. I should have protected her better. I'm just glad it only got one. It could've been so much worse. Luckily I had already made a little house for the ducklings to sleep in so I didn't have to worry about them. I finished the whole thing up just as my husband was getting home from work. No waiting for a man to help me. I didn't have time to wait. My girls needed me.

Aww man that's awful!! Our neighbor said he's seen coons in his garden which is about 20 feet directly behind the chicken run.

we've never had a problem with critters near our runs or coops, but I know there's a first time for everything. I told Tom (our neighbor) to set traps but his are too old and don't work anymore. Our runs and coops are surrounded by trees and two houses and the barn so we are at least safe from anything that can fly in.

I'm with ya on no waiting for a man lol

wow, I couldn't wait on a man if I HAD to, my hubby just had his own wing clipped 2 weeks ago, not supposed to be using the arm till the surgeon says he can. He just got stitches out and can only bend over and let the arm swing in circles, both directions. We found out that even tho his other shoulder was giving him the most pain, he should have had this one done first, it was far worse inside. I will never know what killed my chick, she didn't look diseased, but she was very slow and never a perky bright highly active bird. I can't dwell on it, it will depress me. I have enough mental issues being stricken with the lovely and talented panic disorder.

Thank you fife, you have a golden heart and I love you.
Sorry to dianaross who also lost a chick. glad you know what the problem was so you could get after it. I fear mine had something wrong on the inside and I don't know what to do. what if it takes my whole flock one by one? GGAHHH!! Im thinking someday I might just go pick up one of those coon traps at TSC so I have it just in case. Ive seen coyotes out my way but not a coon yet, but Im surrounded by corn fields so Im sure they are here.
anyone want to see my place from a birds eye view, my addy is 1249 E. Munger Rd. Munger MI 48747, you can cut and paste that in at maps.google.com and see. Sorry I can't stand out in the yard and wave...hahaha my chickens are in the area to the right of the house and just up to the pole barn if you can see it for trees.
Ive gotten overwhelmed with the amount of junk and clutter thats accumulated around here. I tend to like flea markets and estate sales and over the last 10 years have not had a sale of my own. Have watched too many of those "hoarder: buried alive" shows and it scares me what I might become. So Ive placed my focus on thinning out, pricing as I go and boxing it up and getting it out of the house. Gonna try to have a sale before fall and whats left gonna get taken to one of our many 2nd hand stores.

MOM2EMALL, so sorry about your brother. It's so hard to know how much YOU should do to help and when you have to let it go into GOD's hands and/or let them fend for themselves. My bro works his butt off and just had another child 9 months ago and is 45 himself. Now he's out looking for work again, but we keep the want ads handy and help him look. my OTHER brother, doesn't even try, he sets home on his computer and lets his woman support him on a nurses-aid wage!!
well, talking too much, gotta go get off my own hiney and get busy. Have a Blessed day everyone.
