I have motion sensing lights that come on if anything is prowling which makes me feel .... well still awful. Thanks for the radio reminder, I do that when I plant my garden in the spring. Gotta go check around one more time.

the sun will be up soon. Hope your hen turns up without incident. I know you must be so worried.

Good morning everyone.

- I took today off work for a meeting at my daughter Kayla's school. Its the annual IEP meeting to discuss her epilepsy and learning disability. I MIGHT go in to work for a couple hours just to do paperwork...havent yet decided. I think I will see if the weather beckons me out to my yard, before I commit.

I need to get some straw and winter-proof my coop and get the yard ready. I know this week's weather isnt going to last.

I 'saved' a guinea pig yesterday. She was in the snake food tank at the petstore. Small little thing- I came in and handed her to Kayla. She named her Mocha. She disappeared with her, and I didnt think anything at all until about an hour later- I found her lying on MY bed playing with the pig.

sure its not as bad as goose poop but still.....

Anyhow, coffee's almost gone and time to start my day. I hope you all have a wonderful day.

Nova- I wish you good luck with your car. It is stressful enough when your car dies, but when you depend on it for your job it is even worse. I just replaced my 200,000 plus mile car. Hated to see it go, but have to be able to know I can do my job.

My first winter also. I hope my coop is sufficient enough to keep them from freezing to death. It is very solid & water proof but I have no insulation in it. Was told my chickens would be fine. I sure hope so. Right now it's out back but I plan on moving it up closer in the yard for the winter months. I don't want to be trudging through the drifts every morning and night, especially when the wind is whipping around @ 90 mph. We are out in the open and it really blows at times. I'll post o pic later of it and you guys can give me your opinions.

DaughterofEve.......day break is here and I hope your little hen showed up for breakfast.

Winter is always brutal in Michigan. Cold, snowy, icy, and long. I mean seriously, so it's going to be -20 instead of -10, does this really change the way anyone feels about winter? By the time I'm 1/4 the way through chores at -10 I can't feel my appendages anymore anyway. Now I'll just be numb quicker. The only forecast I care about is the spring one. If spring doesn't show up until June again next year I'm liable to hurt someone.

Drag a friend along or your hubby to help.......that's what I'm planning on doing. Will have anywhere between 2-4 kids depends on who wants to tag along. 2 are mine.

I would take my hubby, but he will be out of town....

I might go on Sunday. I made plans for an orchard trip on Saturday.

My husband had a co-worker over the other day, and we were showing her and boyfriend the chickens. I picked up the Brahma and he said, "This one is mine" I thought, "What the hell?" He NAMED her....does he feed them, water them, clean the coop? Um....no.... I swear, I wanted to smack him.....lmao He goes out to visit them once in awhile. He pesters them, from the deck impersonating a chicken (which is quite funny to watch thier reactions)
