I was wondering if your two other big girls were laying! Sooner or later! I agree - I would leave that divider up and hope that the rooster starts to assert himself! But I'll be interested as to what others have to say!

I just had the nicest surprise walking just 2 1/2 blocks coming back from CVS. I live in the middle of Detroits west side. Very packed houses and right on the border of Dearborn where I used to live just 3 streets over from my current home. About 3 house down from CVS I heard a Roo crow, then at the end of that block another roo answered him....and I have been Freaking out about when my roo gets old enough to crow!!! Detroits full of them...lol...and if I had even thought abought hiding 1 hen in Dearborn I would have probably been arrested....

That's how my 6 Asa Browns are- they wake up and go do their job, and leave me 6 eggs by 8:30 without complaint- total sweeties. Now my New Hampshires are another story. Maybe we will lay, maybe in the nestbox or maybe out between the coop and the woodpile, or maybe under a tree. And we will complain loudly no matter what.

The owner of the dog that tried to eat my chickens a month ago just stopped by to tell me it is loose again, so I had to round everyone up and get them in the coop. They are not happy, but I do appreciate her letting me know and I told her that. I will let them back out when I am going to hang outside with them. Hope the dog gets back home soon- she told me she was burning rubber to get down here and let me know.

NovaAman, What u said sounded good to me, the second part.

I taught for 32 yrs, retired 23 yrs ago and back then (even ) the kids drove me nuts. Not all of them just too many. Loved lots of the experience. The light that goes on in the eyes when a kid (gets it) I really miss that. Wouldn't trade those times for anything.

MICHIGAN has lots more than some winning sports teams. I traveled a lot during a hitch in the Navy in the 50s. Most of the states I visited ,eh not so good. It's been a good place to raise a family.

I too DREAM OF A BETTER WORLD ! but lie awake at nighe thinking of chickens
