Hey vicki...congrats on the success of your 4H kids as well as to the leader!

My wife and I got down to the fair last night, took a walk through all the barns, voted for our grandson in the precious baby contest (of course) then went to the truck and tractor pull....can't miss that.

With all the hail damage to the area (actually did a estimate for one of your neighbors to the south a bit) I have been busy writing Insurance estimates for repairs, I have 5 to do today so I won't be making it to the auction....hope all goes well.

Speaking about fairs, We just took my 82 yr old mother to the Livingston County Fair. I was her first big walking excursion after having had a hip replaced the end of April. We all enjoyed ourselfs and enjoyed watching and listening to how enthused and involved the 4-H kids are. Hats off to all parents that get their kids involved. My granddaughter is in 4-H in SW Missouri and she loves it.

I am new on this site as well as chickens. We just bought a dozen layers tonight. We had chickens when I was 12 or so. I am 19 now and getting ready for my last year of 4-H so i figured why not

Steve- Frankenchick started a thread titled "Lansing area chickenstock". She states that the two of you are planning a chickenstock the 2 of August. Thats where we are getting the impression that you two are organizing it.
I just want to know if its going to happen so I can start planning. I think Frankenchick is a big tease, she needs to gets her hiney in gear and make this happen

Has anyone else been to the Williamston auction on Saturdays or the auction down in Dundee on the 1st and 3rd Sats of the month? I am looking for some decent auctions around here to pick up poultry and supplies for them, namely nest boxes, maybe a pony, stuff like that. I am in Redford but have property in Whitmore Lake.

A few Delaware and Sussex and 2 buff rocks with poor color. They (the rocks) were supposed to be cochins but I guess someone packing chicks didn't know cochins have feathered feet and grabbed the wrong ones. They are between 9 weeks to about 15 weeks. Raised on flockraiser. The Sussex and rocks live together. The Delawares are separate because they are smaller and I kept the Sussex roo, who is huge and more mature than they appreciate.

Hi,
I am finally checking out this thread after seeing it many many times. I am from Beaver Island, MI. It is 32 miles out from Charlevoix. I am new to having chickens. We have 8 red sex links. We're loving it so far. Well, it is nice to see so many Michiganders on this site.
