Finally have decided on names for my two French Black Copper Marans hens. Meet Whoopie and Oprah.

Beautiful day to drive over to my DD and SIL's for Thanksgiving. Makes it much easier to decide which child's house to go to for holidays when you only have one! Everyone have a wonderful day of giving thanks to our wonderful God for all of our bounties.

Thanks everyone! It was a really neat to be part of the birthing.

Got more done on my coop for the winter!

I used the greenhouse plastic to cover the coop. Got the plastic a few years ago for my greenhouse, thank goodness that I had just enough to cover the coop.

Due to the fact that I am older than many of you, I have experienced quite a few more Thanksgivings than you. With those many meals comes a great appreciation and gratitude for all that goes into preparation of a Thanksgiving dinner. I have also learned that while my hearing has diminished with age, I have difficulty hearing what Hope and Granny are saying, I have found that others senses have become more acute.

I've learned that in the solitude that hearing loss provides you can hear the sounds of objects that most people aren't even aware have a voice. I can cite you a recent example. Tonight Hope was watching a movie on TV and I made a pot of coffee. Once the coffee had finished brewing, and the aroma lay heavy on the air, I heard the plaintive cry of a dessert. Upon investigation of the kitchen, I found the source of that plea. A coconut pound cake freshly drizzled with chocolate fudge frosting was begging, nay pleading to be cut.

Being the kind soul that I am, how could I in good conscience ignore it. I had a moral obligation to end its suffering. Happy Thankgiving all.
