Well...it's going to have to be in the coop because they are contained to the coop in the winter...guess we'll cross our fingers that they don't become KFC lol. I was just concerned because of plastic on metal. I'll look at the brand when I get home tonight and maybe contact the company too. I've got some of the "old school" ones that are round metal ones that you stick a lightbulb in but I'm not graceful when lugging the water around and last winter I went through a lot of lightbulbs because one little splash of water and they busted.

This is the first year in the new barn for my rabbits so I'm hoping for very little snow to have to treck through...that's not much to ask for right?

Or you could set it up on pavers so it is off the wood floor of the coop...

My coop has a dirt floor bedded with shavings and hay. The waterer is up on a cement block and so far I haven't really even had ice in it or anything.

I'm planning to pick up a blue roo later this week from him. And hopefully some polish eggs from another breeder up that direction.

Thanks for the tip. Will try to check it out.

What about county fairs? Is that a valid way of getting judging and evaluation of your birds? Does anyone have any pros or cons for exhibiting at fairs? I know the Jackson County Fair you don't get to take care of your own bird, and it sits there all week in someone elses care....

OH, and guess what? I think I have it narrowed down to 2 pullets on which laid me the pretty tiny egg. Its either Veena, SLW, or its Skeeter, cochin mutt. Both were in the nest box, but Veena got out and left nothing. Then she got back in, so I went to check later, and Skeeter was in there. Wonder when Scatter will start...
