Very cool egg, Stacykins.

You are right, Chickmate. I do need 100 acres and the accessories.

Long day at school and I'm pooped. But did a quick check on the hens and got another egg. Crispy insists on laying in the deepest corner under the bench so I have to crawl under to get it. They have also taken up the hobby of making several nests in the coop: under the bench; under the roosting steps; in milk crates and on top of a hay bale. Thankfully they use the nest boxes for the most part.

Girl at school tracked me down in class to ask if I had more eggs available and I said that I did. Then she asks if I have them with me.

It is the same bull calf that I pulled out when it was breech.

Stacykins - Love the goat, she looks like she's got knee-high boots on! Such a pretty face, too.

Snowflake - I have two almost all white EE hens with some rust on their wings. This is a picture when they were several months old. Now they have lost most of the gray on their heads and have more white than they did in this picture.

Thank you Farm Boy. Do you sell hatching eggs?

When they start laying, it should be soon, or I will give those girls a talk.

I am planning to rehome 6 Icelandic roos. They are available to anyone who want to breed Icelandics, or just want a colorful roo strutting in the yard.

I'm seriously considering adding a couple of Jersey Giant hens and posted a question on the breed page. One poster replied that they weren't very friendly but that contradicts what I've come across in my short research.

So those of you that have JG's, what do you think? Are they good candidates to integrate into a mixed flock?
Wynette, are you breeding and/or selling any?

Awww! Your little calf is so precious!

Thanks, I just got back in from feeding him. He is quite demanding feeder.

Your doe is beautiful. I have two neighbors that have dairy goats, one have 4 , other have 3. Goats milk is very good, but I want a dairy cow!

Anyone on this thread have a LGD? If so, what breed? I seem to remember someone posting about how invaluable their dog is in protecting their livestock. Can't remember if they had goats or sheep. My sister-in-law has been losing lambs to something, probably coyotes, and is considering getting a LGD but would like to talk to someone who has one first. She has also considered a llama or alpaca. Anyone use them for livestock guardians? Thanks!
