Morning! Who on earth would say Giants aren't friendly? Holy cow. I haven't noticed mine being standoffish at all - I don't handle them a lot, so they're definitely not "lap chickens" but they are certainly not unfriendly.

My breeder pen went through some wicked huge changes this year. 2012 should be a really good year, and I can't wait - I'm SO looking forward to it! Yes, I'll be selling hatching eggs. I need to hatch for myself first, and I plan to hatch only from the pullet that placed Reserve Champion American at a show this past fall, over 59 in the class. But - I will say that the pullets from that breeder are VERY VERY similar, basically carbon copies of each other! The females in the line are really, really nice. This is the 4th breeder I've gotten stock from, and these, FAR AND AWAY, are much nicer than any I've ever had, or seen. I can't take credit, other than hatching, raising, culling....but I will say they are huge, correct, and healthy birds!!

ETA - still catching up on this thread, but wanted to add that in regard to Bouvier des Flanders, I've had one, and a mix, and both were just awesome. Super smart, but level headed. Very dependable, very loyal dogs. We lost our last one less than a year ago, and I miss him so very much! I highly recommend this organization if you're interested in a rescue - they work with all breeds, but prefer to work with Bouvs: http://www.secondchancebouvrescue.com/

I'm sorry to have missed a couple newcomers. A big welcome to RBahmer and another, but for the life of me I can't find your name. There are so many wonderful people on here that are always willing to help with anything you have going on, chickens or otherwise. This is a very active thread so, you should probably not miss a day or you will fall way behind. Welcome, Welcome, Welcome and I hope you find this thread as much fun as I do.

WOW! I get sick for a day and there are over 10 pages to try and cover! Chatty people!

Welcome to those that have joined.

We didn't get any snow! YEAH! I had to put a complete halt on the run yesterday. I was to darn attached to the throne of procelain(SP)... Kids gave me a nice bought of stomach flu and that was topped of with a lovely migraine. Total crap day. AND IT WAS A PERFECT DAY TO FINISH! Gonna have to haul tushy and get it finished today.

Well, anyway. My chickens can not make up their minds. My GLWs keep going back and forth between where they want to sleep. Yesteday I went out to shut up and the silkies were no where to be found, and since it was already dark, I was alittle freaked that they were hiding in the bushes yet or under the car. NOPE. They were in the dang big coop. SO, I left them there. I let them out this morning and Roger decided that he was going to be big roo on campus and kick the crap out of Oscar because Oscar go to close to Leila. Bout time Roger protected her. It was so funny to watch. I got Rogers eye feathers cleared out and He sees good now. LOL. AND he wasn't playing either and I think ti totally surprised Oscar. Almost sang than "nanny nanny boohoo" song at him. LOL.

Well, I have to go to work now. Days are numbered... 2 months till my pay is cut in half...

Raz...just a note about Wynette's jerseys. THEY ARE BEAUTIFUL! The hatching eggs were shipped to me and none were cracked or broken...wrapped carefully. Also...Wynette takes such a personal interest in how they do! She's like a "mother hen"!

Good morning all. Another beautiful day in the making with the sun out so I'm going to try and take advantage of it and get some things around the yard taken care of. Yes, I'm a bit late getting at it, but I will get it done.

Noticed the hardware cloth on the door of my coop has been tampered with a bit this morning. I opened the door and noticed it was pushed back and popped out of the fencing staples that were holding it in place. Didn't see any scratch marks or anything else not right so I don't know if it was a predator or if one of the kids did it accidentally. Thankfully we have strips of board on the inside so even if it had been a predator they wouldn't have gotten anywhere. Did a coop check, though, to make sure no other areas were compromised and it was all good so I'll be out there soon just taking care of the door.

Did a head count, too, and all are present.
Have a good day everyone.
