I have no idea what they are, how they origanated, nothing. But you are close enough to me, if you want some I'll share. I really, Truely don't need this many more chickens. I just fell in love with the beautiful yellow coloring. 3-4 is really ALL I want. Im getting a dozen. just say the word.
No telling tho how this incubation thing will go for me, it's my FIRST attempt ever.
Im putting batteries in and programming a digital themometer plus set a old manual thermometer in the thing to see how they compare.
Im nervous as a mother hen about it all.
Would like to hatch a couple of my own barred rocks too, Doris is laying nicely now.

check out some pretty pics of lemons here: http://birdsandeggs.com/Lemon_Cuckoo_Orpington.html

Sadly I don't have the proper place right now for new chicks nor the time. But I'd definitely consider it if you decide to hatch some in the spring!! The 3 BOs I have now are good layers and so friendly. The Lemons look quite similar but seem to have a little more white feathering. If your hatching fever sticks & you hatch this spring let me know.

I have 2 lemon Cuckoo roos, and they were given to me for free, and they came direct from Greenfire farm. They look pure buff, but they carries the cuckoo gene. I have 3 buff orpington pullets that are almost 2 months old, and will use them for breeding, but will want to breed cuckoos. Hope the eggs hatch well for you.

What a kind thing for you and your friend to do.
Please be sure to keep this new rescue chicken in your garage or basement for a time to make sure it is healthy before you put it in with your chickens.
It can transmit parasites like mites and lice, a variety of devastating respiratory illnesses and even poop worm eggs and a very resistant parasite called Coccidia into your soil. Those parasites are not easy to get rid of once they are on your farm. Perhaps your friend who found the chicken could keep her a week or two to help you be sure she is healthy before bringing her to your place? You can also take a fecal/poop sample to a vet or to M.S.U. Vet school if you are close to Lansing. God bless this kind effort!

I found her on craigslist. If you type in chickens, she's in Monroe selling golden comets. Very nice with a lovely and clean chicken set- up on her farm. Organized by age and lots of space.

We got our tree yesterday. Nothing like cutting down your tree in the mud....lol We still had fun though.

I have been a little sad though. I found a new home for my silkies (Chickendales took them for me) I was very attached to them, but I know they are in great hands! I just miss them.

I am looking for breeders in my area (for breeds other than silkies) I might just have to wait until Feb-March to get chicks. I was really hoping to find some young pullets instead.

Thank you chicken grandma. As it turns out the she is a he and has a crippled leg. So we talked not long ago and my friend is going to keep him as I have no pen to put him because all my pens already have roosters in them. We don't want him to get beat up so she is going to keep him. I just hope one day people who do these kinds of things get what is coming to them. In my opinion there is no excuse a person can give for being cruel to ANY animal !!! Take care.
