Billie, his last time up at deer-camp. He was king of the woods.

I REALLY like it. I have just 1 dog...with short hair but she is a horrible SHEDDER! I need to sweep daily and I don't want to spend my day doing housework. Just don't want to. The auto vaccum works on GPS and really picks up the dog hair great! Granted....it does NOT get right close up to wall or under low stuff. However....I can run it every other day and save the major sweeping for every two weeks. Just depends on how picky you are. My house is always picked up...beds made...everything in place. But I can conviently ignore cobwebs and dog hair tumbleweeds for long terms with NO problem.

This makes it look pretty decent ...just need a flying one that would go to furniture and dust.

ChickwannaB...that picture made me tear up. .....I feel for you. I have to say I love chickens but dogs are my really soft spot.

I love dogs too, nothing like their unwavering devotion and loyalty. It's only 1 of the terriers that causes trouble around here, the Jack Russell, but cuz she can let herself out the screen door, my chickens HAVE to be in a fence.
My husband is the one who bawls like a baby. Every little thing makes him cry right now. Billie would get SO excited if you grabbed the car keys, or your jacket, he knew he was going Bye-bye. Jerry said the other day when he had to run out and do errands, Bill wasn't there as usual wiggling from side-to side and barking like crazy. He got in the truck and bawled for 6 miles down the road not having him there. Jerry feels stuff so much more deeply, I haven't cried yet, but thats mostly due to medication which glosses over alot of emotions. Im afraid if I could cry, it would never stop. I do miss him, he was one of a kind.
We had to postpone chirstmas with the kids friday cuz he was so upset, we're trying again for today, altho he's already lost it a couple times.

ChickwannaB. That is a very nice memorial of Billie. Made me cry. I just lost my precious girl, a cocker spaniel, in November so I can relate to your hubby. My girl was 14 and I knew it was time but it is still hard and I still cry for her. I was always told that if you got 12 years out of a cocker you were doing good. She would have been 14 this month. My husband buried her under my bedroom window and bought her a headstone with her name on it. It is never an easy thing to accept. We have other dogs but that was my girl and she only liked me. Nobody else could touch her. I miss her terribly.

AWWWW, so sorry to hear that. So hard, especially when they pick YOU to be their special person, isn't it?? I have one like that, Sweetie, she can be a trouble-maker, but God I love her. Husband calls her the "bullhead" cuz she's so stubborn ;D He says she doesn't like him, but he spent 4 days in the hospital once and SHE was the only one who jumped on his lap and licked his face when he got in the truck to go home. That'll teach him!! She's difficult to take anywhere because she barks at everything and everyone, but that's only cuz she's so protective of ME. What a dog. I rescued her from animal control, owners turned her in cause she wouldn't house-break. She was a cinch!! People!! grrrrr.
I pray God eases your pain, someday the memories will not make you cry. It takes so long tho.

Thank you ChickwannaB. My girl was a rescue also. She came out of West Virginia. But I tell you I was truly the only person that dog liked. I always laugh when I think of my friend. My friend would come over to visit and Brianna would sit on my lap and actually snub my friend. My friend would talk to her and she would turn her head like how dare you talk to me. Then my friend would touch her leg and she would yank it back so she couldn't touch it. My friend would say to her " you are just a prissy b**ch. " Memories are great.

I've noticed the same thing.
Where else could I say that I'm a chicken groper and not be pilloried?

Another day of no heat and no lights and another 5 eggs. It gives me an idea for a biology project for next semester.

X3 on the noticing the kindness of Michiganders!

ChicwannaB - that is one regal looking Billie. Tell your husband I am just like him. I cried non stop for 5 days once over a chicken.
Kids roll their eyes...

The link below is my Christmas card to all my BYC friends . . . Merry Christmas!

ChickwannaB - I cried when I read Billie's memorial too. I lost my little girl last Spring when she was 16.

Mutt - Don't you just love those pileated woodpeckers?? So huge! I have one that stops by every year and sometimes two at the same time. I was out at the coop last week when I heard a very loud racket up in the trees. I looked up and there he was, flying in to peck at the bark on one of the cottonwoods. He didn't stay very long this time, but I sure do love to see him when he flies through.

Beautiful sunny day even if it is only 30 something. The chickens came busting out when I opened the run door after church. They just love to get out in the yard. The heated dog dish has been working great, but it's going to be a pain in the butt when I have to carry the water bucket through snow drifts to fill it every day. I think I could deal with winter if it stayed like this till spring. I just hate shoveling snow off the deck and car and trudging through it to get to the coop. I am not a winter person at all. Like Mom, I'm a winter WIMP!

Only got 8 eggs so far today and one of my regular customers wiped me out yesterday when she took 7 dozen.

Think I'll make Christmas cookies today and maybe try making RaZ's tequila cake. Wait, I don't have any tequila, think it will work with rum?
