I don't think so. I turned off the heat lamp and lights over a week ago. And it was positioned about 2 1/2 feet above the bench so they would have to had jump up to it.

Nova, do you think the ammonia level is too high in Carl's coop? Or too much dust? Or maybe the sudden change in temperatures caused the respiratory illness?
Do his chickens sneeze? Does he use heat of any kind. Just thinking on this.......

oh yes... You can smell it bad and feel the dampness in his coop.
The albon is working on his girl already. She is already showing signs of improvement.

So if the Albon is working then does that mean his chickens have Coccidia? Because I thought that is what you used Albon for.

How about a good clean out of his coop litter to reduce ammonia?

I think for a respiratory infection Tylan or something antibiotic would be the treatment. But I thought Albon was used for the parasite Cocci.

Just brainstorming. Hate to see a whole coop of chickens die off if it can be prevented.

Hmmmmm......couple of my hens combs have spots that look like Raz's girls...I just went out and was looking them over. So...pecking spots, fowl pox? Something that will fix it self? To be or not to be concerned about? I need to go back and look at previous posts and google.....Educating myself.

RaZ - those pictures were helpful.
I have had a septic hen and the whole comb turned purple.
I have also had them fight and then there is a spot or two on the comb, but not that much.
I have used heat lamps and never had combs look like that. So I don't know what those spots are - but at least I can tell you what they are not......
Someone on here will probably know and I look forward to finding out.

Sulfadimethoxine (trade name Di-Methox, Albon) is a sulfonamide antibiotic. Albon is produced by Pfizer Animal Health and is available as a oral suspension, tablet or bolus. It is used to treat many infections including treatment of respiratory, urinary tract, enteric, and soft tissue infections. It is most frequently used in veterinary medicine. Sulfadimethoxine inhibits bacterial synthesis of folic acid (pteroylglutamic acid) from para-aminobenzoic acid. It is also commonly used for the treatment of coccidiosis in many species.

thought I would find a better description of its uses for you.

Albon is used for cocci, as well as Labeled for poultry & cattle. Used as treatment of bacterial pneumonia & respiratory infections. It is a nice broad range medicine.

Yes it is. I have used it on cattle and sheep before.
