I'm sorry to hear about your BA, Chickflick.

It was such a nice day outside and I wanted to let my crew out, but DH had plans to go into town and I didn't want to leave them totally unattended. I think I made a wise choice now that I'm reading about all the hawk attacks. Sorry to all who lost any chickens.

As for the new format, I haven't spent much time going over it yet, but I think I can get a handle on it. Like being able to change type color (thank you Nova for bringing that to my attention). The rest, we'll see.

Well I am lost I think. Not enuf energy to figure out new forum which I dont like. Time for a sweet treat and nap time.

Dont believe it . Tried a smiley, got wrong one and couldnt get placed in right spot ha I HATE CHANGE.

Does anyone raises or know someone who does have Milking Shorthorn cattle, for I really want a milking cow for the family. My dad was looking through a book that I got from the library, ''Family Cow''. Very good book, anyway based on what my dad read, he picked Milking Shorthorn for dual-purposes. Cows for milk, and bull calves for steers.

From the '09 - '10 ALBC Directory:

Dick Roosenberg - Scotts, MI
800 498 2700

Cindy Garber - Owosso, MI
989 723 3602

Only Dick is listed in the '10-'11 directory. That doesn't mean Cindy doesn't still have them though, just means she wasn't a member when the directory was printed.

I'll also note that our own BYC member, Menglish, raises beautiful Dexters. Another good dual purpose option.

At the top of the page is a blue bar. You can go to "messages" and send your PM after clicking there.
It opens the message window and you select "new message" where you can type in the letters of your addressee(s).
Or you can go to a post of that person, hover the mouse over their name and you get a menu of choices.

I'm old but I'm not adverse to trying new things. I think this new format is neato.

I am wanting to try make pickled eggs with my button quail eggs. I wrote down a recipe from ChicwannaB. I can't find where to find members to PM so .... if you see this ChicwannaB, I want to know how you would seal the jars up so I can give them as gifts or to sell. Thanks

So sorry about your hawk loss. We had lost one of our original hens to a dog this summer. So sad when that happens. At least we were just gathering up the bodies. Not like what you had to do. I have a recent picture of her sister in my computer. I'm going to see if I can post it here with this new format.

Hey....it worked.

This is Bess. She knew there was something good in there. She watched the little songbirds come and go. She just couldn't reach it.

Her sister Victoria was lost this summer. (Both named after British queens, being Old English Game hens...) I know...groan......

Now I'm wondering if I can go back to Google Chrome and have it work with my "page." I had to use Firefox instead of Chrome to edit things there.

I really doubt that we'll get a significant snow here. And I actually WANT snow. I miss it. Yea, call me crazy, but I LOVE WINTER. I'm like a kid. Sure, I don't have anyone to have snowball fights with, but the dogs love snowballs so I can toss them 'til they get tired. I've been known to drop and make a spontaneous snow angel. Snowmen are totally game.

Ok, understand that but how do you find members if they are not on or you don't want to go back through the zillions of posts we Michigan folks have generated. There used to be a area to search but I can't seem to find it now.

For the record I do like the new format, my older lap top does not care for it (takes longer to load) and in the evenings that's the only computer I can get near. I really like the new breeds section.

Taprock,
May this will help. Click "Compose New", then click on the "to" bar and type a few letters of the addressee. I typed tap and got the dropdown, all you have to do is select the name you want.

HTH.

So sorry for all those losing birds to the hawks. Right now, I'm glad I'll be shutting everyone for the snow days coming. I'm feeling super paranoid about the hawks. Since my flock is so little (5 birds), it would break my heart to lose someone.

I'm not a fan of the WYSIWYG being mandatory, I much prefer to code my own posts.

The first item on the WYSIWYG editor is Source which will display the HTML markup. I'm a code monkey for a living so unless I want to do something extra fancy, I just use the WYSIWYG editor. Seems too much like work, otherwise.
