Raz - I will participate. Got one question though. I have girls of variying ages in my coop. Some are laying, some are too young to lay, and some are SUPPOSED to be laying (yeah...they are almost a year old!!

). For the purposes of your study, how would you like me to count my flock?

For the study, any hen between 26 weeks and 5 years will be considered. Girls gone broody are not to be counted.

OK, perhaps third time is the charm. Two other posts have disappeared when I hit "submit." And boy, were they both riveting and hilarious. Gone, gone, gone. Unless they magically show up. Because I am clueless here. Gonna hit submit. Gonna hit it with fingers crossed.

I checked with the tech people and they installed a filter for "riveting and hilarious" before people are fully awake.
I forgot to ask them if they had a "beer typing" filter as well, I might need that one!

RAZ-

I'd love to participate in your study..however, I was unaware that chickens actually laid eggs..

I have two silkies, one which is a Mama, three point-of-lay Polish fruitloops, A sizzle, a frizzle, and a silkie/cochin...

I also have a red heat lamp OUTSIDE the coop, under the lean-to, where Mama keeps her babies.

That's the rumour.

I hoping to use this study to get a guest spot on "Myth Busters".

PS the red light under the coop would have no affect on the study if you want to participate, Mama hen would not be counted as a layer. (She has enough to do right now).

Ahhh, well, as long as it wasn't a filter for excessive-verbiage-that-overly-explains everything-and-is-mostly-only-interesting-and-amusing-to-the-poster. Because I will never reach 100 posts if that is the case.

Did any one lose power last night? We had lost power for about a hour and a half. The temp was in the low 20s. When I woke up, and saw my alarm blinking, I panicked, and got dress quickly for I had week old chicks in the brooder shed outside. They looked fine, but lost 1 week old chipmunk Icelandic chick. It was weak, and I think that it was smothered by the other chicks. I had 3 of the fully feathered month old chicks with them, and I think that they had saved the younger chicks by allowing the younger chicks under them like broody hen, but they are roos, so I thought that was funny and cute.

This was taken a week ago-

Love the spy window! Except now I feel I really should not just leave the Michigan thread window open 24/7 on my computer so I can find it fast. (Well, I suppose not a window, since it's an IPad not a PC... whatever the Apple people call them I guess). But I don't want to deceive anyone about where I am. It's true, I do spend a lot of time here lurking (I get cranky when I get to the last page of the thread, it only appears to be a bottomless well!) but occasionally I do have to go out to make a living, etc. And I know someone is bound to tell me that leaving not-windows open all the time is an invitation to some sort of computer disaster. So I'll be good. But I do enjoy checking out the spy window and waving to everyone who's on!

Sam How did you make a new album. I feel like an idiot asking, but I don't see a make new album button.
I went to My Profile, scrolled down to Your Photos, click on Upload Photos, below Your Photos will be loaded to is Create new album. Now if I can just get the drag and drop to work it will be a breeze.
