Mornin!
DH woke up at 3 am...stomach hurting...flu going around. Not sure if he has the flu or if it was smoking a cigar at friends last night. He hasn't had a cigar in over a year and maybe that did it.
I went back a couple of pages to try to get an idea of what is happening in Mi. Cute baby chicks...forget who they belong to...maybe Nova?
During the snow storm here (7 inches) two days ago...I moved the flock to the RV. No heated water..no light...in preparation for the flock sittters care. Still got my usual two eggs. A lot of natural light comes in all the windows so hopefully that will help keep them laying. I was contacted by Brkuk (Mi. breeder of Marans, Ameracaunas and a couple of other breeds...he just put the eggs into the bator for me. I'm getting marans and lavender Ameracaunas (6 total). I thought when I ordered them I was selling my flock due to the Florida trip. I ended up keeping my flock so when I pick up the new girls in May I will keep them in the RV coop on the far side of the field away from my old flock until 30 days pass to ensure that there is no cross contamination of anything they could have.
I believe we will be moving back to Florida in the next year. I love this place and Michigan too but after 30 years of living in Florida...we just can't adjust to the harsh winter. 4 days ago DH took a sled down a seasonal road to pick up a deer carcass he saw to use for coyote bait. The road was so icy and slippery he had a hard time walking and not falling (he has already fell 5 times this winter!). A steep hill had the sled sliding into his ankles so he thought..."heck..I'll just climb in and slide down the base of the hill". Well...it went really fast on the ice...hit dirt on the side of the road...he went flying and came home with a gash going down the side of his face ..about 5 inches long. Blood everywhere. Yuck. He should have had stiches but he wouldn't go so he will have a "pirate -looking" scar I believe. Last year I fell on the running board of the truck due to ice and cracked my ribs. It is DANGEROUS in the winter with snow and ice. When we see people older than us driving and walking around in the winter...we wonder how they do it. Obviously we got "soft" living in Florida!
Well....good luck with all those incubating eggs now...wish I could join in. Have a nice day and be careful on the roads and walking around Danger lurks everywhere!
(shades in prep for Florida trip!)
