Nice outhouse. (Just kidding, it'a a very nice coop). The Tyvek wrap reminded me of a house I was doing some work on. An older gentleman walked by and said, "You put that stuff on upside down, the letters have to be the other way." He was dead serious so I told him that since heat rises, if you put this stuff on upside down then the heat goes downs and warms the floor. "That's a good idea" he says and walked away.

if you are worried about it run the trimmings through a food grinder first.

there is lots of healthy stuff in fish. I have thought about running my fish trimmings through a grinder and feeding them to the chickens, I usually go to lake michigan for salmon or lake erie for walleye so on a good trip I could have 10 pounds of carcasses.
If you have ever eaten fish sticks, fish nuggets or any fish from a fast food resturant, it is all trimmings run through a grinder then formed (perhaps with a worker's finger or 2).

Thanks raz that made me LOL!!!!

I'm wondering about Chickenstock. I put it on my calendar but I really don't know what it is, having never attended. What do you do, who is it for?
It's a great gathering of poultry people in a park having a picnic while putting faces to the names and avatars we see here on this thread everyday. There is a swap meet of sorts with folks buying, selling and trading birds. There is also a raffle with some really nice stuff.

Last year was my first time and I had no idea what to expect, but it was a great experience. You can talk chicken stuff all day long and not get those looks from anyone.
It's a huge costume party in a city park. You have to dress as your farourite chicken breed and act like a chicken all day long while people take pictures and post You Tube videos. I dressed as Foghorn Leghorn last year and had a blast.

All kidding aside, Chickenstock has become an annual event that we all look forward to. It's open to one and all and we have had folks from Ohio, Indiana, and Canada come to join us for the day. Anyone with birds or animals they are wanting to sell or swap are free to bring as many as they want as long as they have proper cages and they are healthy. It is a great opportunity to add to your flock or to find that special breed you've been wanting. Most folks bring a dish to pass and the amount and variety they bring has made for an incredible lunch.
Many folks bring hatching eggs and chicks and other bring crafts to sell.

Each year we have had a raffle table that every member get a ticket for. Many bring items to donate to the raffle table ie. smoked chickens, feeders, waterers, pot holders, hand towels, painted gourd pots, and just about any small chicken related item. Amazingly the last two years there has been
enough that I think everyone went home with something.

And best of all it's an opportunity to visit with the people you have met on line.

Yay! I really, really despise those type of sparrows, they use to fly in the coop and eat the chicken's feed. Invaders

They still do that in our run. Must install more netting.

, I know it was on the profile page because that's what I've been messing with. Oh well.

hEY, I couldn't even find it.

Everyone have a good day.

These little ones just hatched yesterday. They are oh so cute. One is a cuckoo marans, one is a cuckoo x blue marans, and one is lakenvelder x andalusion. I tried with my new incubator with a turner in it and couldn't hardly hatch squat. First time 1 out of 31, second time 2 out of 24. Hubby set these ones, 18 of them, in an ANCIENT incubator made by Sears & Roebuck many many years ago and already has 3 hatched and still hatching.
