I am bummed. I went to take care of the duck coop, feed Aster and give her vitamins, and she was even worse. I had to take her out of the brooder box just to be able to get food to her head. Had to give her water to drink from a dropper and she still couldn't get it all. She did stop attacking me though. BUT while she was out of the broody box, she decided she wanted to try and walk, she couldn't she totally spazzed out, tipped over the waterer, crapped diareaha, was upside down with her feet in the air flapping all around. OMG, it was horrible. And then she started screaching. Since I just had another hen, Skeeter, go broody, I put Asters eggs under her and put Aster down. She may have been a mean little you know what, but she was still a good layer, and I have 2 of her egg being incubated by the broodies... I didn't make the decision lightly. I took into account that she was sitting on eggs, but how would she be able to take care of the babies when they hatched if she was still suffering wry neck? SO, I hope I did make the right decision... My neighbor even took a look at her, and he could not believe that her head was upside down. Said he had never seen such a thing. Well, now he has.![]()
Enjoy EE heaven Aster.
So sorry Nova. You did the right thing though.
