I have to show the babies off. You can all use your magic powers to sex them. Ready? All the white ones are roos, but not the one that is in the top far right, and it looks like that both of the red ones are pullets. =D

anddd..when I showed them your picture, RaZ...

Only this one came forward...

and I cant leave out Beeper Mutant for comparison.
Be nice.

I forgot. Just to show you how much respect I get around here. Check out my poor cup of tea:

Hey, does anyone know if they treat commercial Christmas trees with anything that would be harmful to chickens or geese? Ours still looks mighty swell in our living room, thanks for asking, but I am thinking when it is past its prime (no really, it's still in its prime. Like me!) I might throw it out as a windbreak. But any chemicals I should worry about?
When we used to have a live Christmas tree and it was past Christmas we would put it in the front yard, stand and all for the little wild birds to have a place to go. Not that I don't have trees in my front yard it just seemed so fitting to do that.

Chaos must be in the air, brought the water in to clean and fill it up carried it out to the coop flipped it over... and you guessed it splash all over my pants sure am glad it 43 degrees out.

AWWW how cute are those. Yep, I think that one wants to live with Raz. And the cat, now that is funny.

Like evryone else said - No way in heck of keeping up with this thread! No frozen water today! That will give me a little more time to do something else (Like go back and read somes replies, lol). Enjoy your day.

Once, long ago when I took to the field with gun in hand for fun and relaxation ( I neVer actually thought it was for food.) I stood next to a fence in the pouring rain and took far too long to realize The quivering and the muscle contractions and the PAIN were due to the fact that the barrel of my shotgun was resting ( cought up in?/on) an electric fence. iT COULDA been worse, Huh ! Never thought about that till today.

Ugh! seeds soaked in water. I much prefer my leaves soaked in water thank you (Wild Berry Plum green this morning)

Grandma, you can only offer the best advice you can, and people will either take it or not depending on their personal experience and tolerance for risk. Not everyone buys the same amount of insurance coverage. All the birds I have I either hatched out myself or got as day-old chicks from a reputable hatchery.

Yorkchic, I remember Penelope from Chickenstock, the still-fuzzy long-legged thing following Mom and her daughter all around. Nice to see her all grown up and happy with her friends.

I think Beeper will end up a beautiful swan!

Without further ado, here's one I like to call Gooser Feet in the Snow:

And let's give the last word to Penelope:

"Mom2!!! Do you know what the new Mrs. Food did? Do ya, do ya? She put cold white stuff over my grass! I might starve! Wait till I get some scratch and some collard greens and some grumble, and I'll tell ya all about it!"
I love your gooser feet picture! I am not a gooser fan but Penelope looks like she has a great personality.

We have a lovely mess here. We had about a foot and a half of snow until last night. We had thunder, lightning and rain during the night. So this morning there is an icy crust on the top of about 8 inches of snow and the bottom 4 inches are actually slush. No schools are open and hubby was called in early again. I'm not sure our driveway is actually drivable. It appears to be a good day to stay home.

Leslie! Glad you're not a stalker any more.
Mom, those chicks are adorable. Even Beeper. When I was a kid in Chicago, I found a silkie in the street. Where it came from, who knows! No farms around us and not many chickens in the city. Any who, I bought that lil chick home and named her Beep-Beep. She was a house chicken. Let her go out during the day, and she came in. Had no nest for her, she laid her egg on the basement couch. Every morning, she'd hop up those stairs and share her day with us. Pretty funny, since my parents refused to let any cat or dog into our house.
