Tried that once....I was boycotting cleaning and enjoying myself & the free time while doing so. BIG mistake cause no one else thought of doing it instead. I don't fret anymore if something doesn't get done right away cause I know it'll be there waiting for me!!
I told my son to pick up something he left on the kitchen table. "But mom" he says "You left stuff there". I kindly informed him I have the right since it will just be waiting for me - no one else was going to take care of it - he doesn't have that right!

Teeville - I think it was your roo who was injured, I can't find it now, anyway glad the little guy is ok. I can just imagine looking for him, been there before. Glad you had a good outcome.

Today was a good day, cleaned house

, put some more boughs in. Took some pictures which I will post tomorrow and talked to the MSU vet which I will also share tomorrow. Right now I'm going to climb in a warm bed with a good book! Nite!

How in the world are you people keeping up? I've scanned three times today -- scanned, not read -- and each time there have been multiple pages. Which is about par for the course lately. I can't even imagine how long it would take if I were actually reading them all. And I thought I was a quick reader.

I was thinking I'd get caught up tonight once I had everything else finished up but it's so not happening. My mind just wants to veg out.

Are most of you retired / unemployed?? Or just really proficient forum readers/posters?? Or BOTH?! LOL! Whatever it is you're kicking my butt!

Oddly enough, the busier I am, the more I am able to get done. With so much homework I have a lot of reading to do and can get bogged down mentally, the forum gives me a break by changing my thought process. Same holds true when I'm doing computer homework.

Then there are some times that I just read the posts and don't respond because I can't think of anything of value to add. Although I often have nothing of value to add but I post anyway.

I couldn't hardly believe that there were already 45 posts since I last logged on. Took several minutes to read it all. I would like to thank everyone for all of the birthday wishes. It certainly does make an old man feel good.

When I took my boat on the river I found that the 15 lb anchor made of chain wasn't adequate to stop the boat quick enough to hold above the holes. We had to let out so much line that we'd be through the run before we could get set up. So I have been on a quest to find a large link chain. I stopped at the metal scrap yard where we always take out scrape metal but they didn't have one. The owner's wife said that if something came in she'd stop by my house to tell me. Much to my surprise she stopped on her way to work this morning to tell me that someone brought a heavy chain with some scrap metal.

When I got to the scrap yard and found the chain waiting for me I carried it over and placed it on the scale so that it could be weighed and I could buy it. When I asked how much she just smiled and told me to just take it. What a kind and generous thing to do. Twelve feet of chain of that size would have cost me close to $100 if I could have found a place to buy it new.

It was a wonderful reminder that there are some wonderful people in our world and our lives are blessed because of them.

Not working here, as you can see. Just can't find a pt job near me that will at least pay for the gas to get there... Buuut my girl got a nice coat from me. Took the last 3 days, but she's my favorite and so i spoil...

It is wine colored pleather with stormy blue stitching, and peach lace with peach ribbon snap-on straps. And you can't see it but there is brown "fur" lining it! Sounds like a bit much but all scrap material and it looked super sharp when it was done. I even formed it to curve instead of lying flat so it would not be too stiff for her. :)

Returned to college for my masters degree today after MANY years - 28 to be exact.

Half way through the first class...... my big fear comes true. The professor trashes a treatment that I know works. The class laughs with him - young folks, no hands on experience at all.
I am steamed. I raise my hand and point out that in practical experience, this treatment often works for people. I know the research on it is inconclusive but it WORKS.

Not a good start. The professor is good at theories but maybe has been in the classroom too long. The students will follow him whereever he leads them.
And me - I have hands on experience and if it doesn't match the info in the class? I am going to trust my experience.

This is going to test my patience.........

Fuzzybutt love! Awesome saddle, love the lace! It looks like your girl is looking back to admire her new outfit, although it may be more like, hey, what's that on me??? But it sounds like you made it especially comfortable for her. And part of what we do "for" our animals is really to increase our own enjoyment of them, so as long as it doesn't hurt them, go for it! (That's really why I sing lullabies to the geese). (Though if anyone human happens to hear my singing, they may be reporting me for abuse of animals).

Chicken grandma, you totally rock! Those mere chidren in class are lucky to have the example of someone who thinks for herself. Question authority. Not part of the coursework, but so important in life. What is your field of study? (Don't say Organismal Behavior, I hear the job market is about to be flooded with that). :D

Well, I went out to kiss Henry goodnight and send the goosers into Protective Custody. Inside their pen (door stays open all day until they get shut in at night) was a big fat opossum, chowing down on their grumble. Meanwhile, all three of my fierce watch geese were splashing around in an inch of standing water about 10 feet away from the pen. You'd think Penelope at least would be in there defending her vital resources. I shined my flashlight at the beast and it shuffled away. Wonder how many other critters I'm feeding? Oh, well.
