HAPPY VALENTINES DAY ALL

When I awoke this morning I couldn't hardly believe that I had slept until 630am. Even more surprising was that Hope was up and sitting here drinking coffee and talking with her youngest son. He works midnights, gets off at 6am and quite often stops by on his way home. Usually its he and I that share coffee not his mother. They also were using the computer so my Valentine wishes are going out a little later than they normally would have.

I am awaking thankful this morning having been reminded of what is important. For those of you who are praying folks, our neighbors, Duane and Peg Swenor's home burnt down last night. They are a retired couple, he has some disabilities. They were both burnt although he is much worse. He is headed down state to a big hospital but I'm not sure were. I could kick myself sometimes for going around ungrateful until I am reminded in some big way that what I'm dealing with is nothing at all.

HH - love the chicks, Mine are a week old and I'm already trying to decide when I can get away with setting more! Chicks are very addicting.

Ok who was it with the green roses? I thought of you because my DH brought me home a beautiful green rose last night.

Happy Valentines Day!!

Taprock, sorry to hear about your neighbors, I hope they pull through ok. It's sad to hear they lost their home too.. so many memories.

I am looking to buy Heritage Turkeys... I only want a tom and 2 hens (unrelated if possible). If anyone has some youngsters they can sell please contact me. OR if anyone is going to put in an order and want to split .. I don't want to get 15 poults!

RaZ I have heard of places like that..... I think that's terrible they try to control so many details. Too bad you can't just have a nice privacy fence anymore.

dascountry Too bad about your Jack Russell. My ex neighbor had them and it was the squeaking that did it. They were bred to get rodents, so the squeak..... Just too much for them. Once they got bigger the dogs had zero interest. Crossing my fingers for you!

taprock That is absolutely horrifying. It's bad enough when it's the house, but them too.... I will pray for them.
It was me with the roses.....

or what's left of them. Could kick myself repeatedly. Did not wait for the blooms to finish before separating and re potting. I tried to cut off the blooms, but they are still in shock. I lost one of the 3 last night.

Should have googled it before i did it; i read a nice how-to afterward, and you can separate the roots gently in a pot of water AFTER they finish blooming. And NO fertilizer until they are settled in, about a week.. I still have 2 of my poor twigs..... I should have just waited for spring to re pot. I have never been good with indoor flowers. I wanted to post pics and ask for help, but it was just so sad and embarrassing.

Happy Valentine's Day.
Taprock, so sorry for your neighbors!! I'll definately include them in my prayers.
HH, love the pic of "Superchick"
Love all the pic of chicks and lambs.

It's snowing. A pretty soft falling snow. But it still means more shoveling.
Have a good day.....

I could tell you a nice story about my privacy fence that played out over a years time and ended up with me in court several times. All because the bi-polar guy went off his meds.

Don't throw away your roses just yet. There might be hope for them.
If you have already removed them from the original pot, then trim the stem back to just above the first 5-leafed leaflet. If you can't find the leaflet with 5, you can still cut it back 1/2 to 2/3. You have a good chance of the plant recovering. Let the soil dry out completely and then wait a few more days before trying to separate the roots.

As a general rule, never transplant a plant while it is in bloom. Wait until it is done blooming, then trim it back and transplant. It is best to transplant when the plant is dormant or in a state of rest. However, like raising chicks in winter, it can be done. It just takes a little more attention and care.

Sorry about your neighbors. It brings back memories of when I was 11 years old. Our house caught on fire and left nothing but the shell of it, when we got home from vacation. My mom was 7 months along with our youngest sister when that happened.

Happy V-Day Everyone! My FBCM's are 20 weeks today! Only one of them looks close to laying an egg. Her comb is starting to darken.

I don't think Big Boy is getting any love from the big girls (except one of my EE's) but all my bantams have muddy backs. lol However, not one of my bantams is laying and I think my silkie is broody AGAIN. She hasn't laid an egg since September. Sheesh! If it were warmer I would just give her some of my EE eggs to see if they'd hatch out. At least THEN she would be doing SOMETHING. :: mumblegrumbles ::

Well I hope everyone has a happy day. :)

Ciao.

Well, that was weird. Last night I couldn't post or quote anyone. Seems to be working now though. Happy V-Day Everyone!

RB - Congrats on the twins and trips, but you've got to stop that. You're making me antsy for babies and we won't have any here until March.

What was your overnight count?

Here's the sad state: the buds have shriveled on the middle one, so.... the leaves are yellowing from the stem to the veins, then dropping. Only lost the one on the middle last night, but looks like i'm gonna lose at least one more on the third plant. The plants look worst to best from how open the blooms were before i cut them. I don't dare to do any pruning.
