Wow, wish I could go the the shearing event. This is our first lambing and shearing season (Romeldales), We have had 2 ewes lamb already, 2 more due in April, and the last one in May. I cannot imagine having 40 at once, but atleast you get it done and over with. We had not planned on haveing two lamb in February....but woops, fencing issue. lol
I really like Metzer's ducks, and need to order some Khacki Campbells to replace the ones I lost to weasals this winter. I need to wait until we get the issue taken care of though. We lost another 4 birds last night. 2 before 1 am.......and I found another 2 when I went out to feed. I am just devestated. We have a weasal trap out, and a live trap. I thought I had the hole in the floor patched, but I was wrong. We were lucky for so many years with predators. Just an occasional fox loss now and then. In the last 6 months I lost over 5 dozen birds. 2 dozen at the end of the fall when I forgot to shut the layer door until 10pm. 3 dozen to the weasal since Christmas.
