Pictures!

I have to go tomorrow to pick up a few things. Put it off all week which means now the kids will be with me. This ought to be fun.

Had to give my two bantams, a polish and a favorelle baths. All of a sudden they get mites and can't seem to get rid of them. This is their third bath. I cleaned out their coop and dusted poultry dust all over, and dusted them also. So, why do they keep coming back?? My poor babies! Even put the drops on them... what's it called? lol, to kill them. I don't know what else to do.
I have been fighting the stupid Northern Fowl mites all winter. It's been cold enough that I haven't given any baths just dusting and ivomectin. I can't wait for a day in the 50's so I can do baths!

I haven't seen any geese yet and they are usually before the robins. Again I am way jealous of your signs of spring while we're looking at more snow tonight.

Raz - how many? what kinds?

They ought to be there any time. They've been coming through here in droves for the past couple weeks.

When was/is the thing at MSU?

Here's the link to the schedule:

RaZ, DO YOUR HOMEWORK! If you keep getting ducklings and chicks, you will be too busy to be able to do your homework. Or, are you actively looking for a way to procrastinate?
I am going to guess that you got 6 chicks and 6 ducks.

I have a utility sink in the basement and now they are in the bathroom with a heat lamp on the two. When they are dry they are getting another dose of ivomectin. Thanks for the response.

ISA Brown - 3; Silver Laced Wyandottes - 3; and BSL - 2. What was I thinking?

I'll try to get better pictures after they have had a chance to settle in. Right now I just made a half-fast wire divider and have them in with the mallards until I get the other brooder cleaned and sterilized.

I also met a very nice lady who was also getting some chicks.I told her about BYC and our chatty forum and gave her my number.

I'm pretty sure that TSC stands for Those Stinkin' Chick-days. Don't ask! It was less than a dozen.

I am happy to report I didn't fall victim to the oodles of chickies in the tanks. I have a few breeds in mind and they didn't have them so I passed the babies right up after watching them for awhile. DH barely looked at them and only did so when I was pointing out the barred rock baby rooster-to-be. I'll stop in at the TSC in Lowell tomorrow after work to see what they have so we'll see then if I get any or not.

By the way, the guy at our TSC asked if I wanted any of the chicks, but I told him no because they didn't have the ones I was looking for. He asked me what ones I wanted and I told him Jersey Giants. Talk about a puzzled expression! He had no clue what they were and had never heard of them before. I had to point to his sign and said I think they are the ones listed as black giants on your poster. At which he reaffirmed he had never seen or heard of them before. This guy turned out to be the manager on duty! Go figure.

I am doing my homework...sort of. My biology project is about getting eggs and what comes from eggs? So I'm good; right?
Besides I am getting help from a friend from school on Sunday and Monday and she is a whiz at this stuff.

Just wondering: is "active procrastination" an oxymoron? I'll bet Yorkchick would know.
