Mom2- I'm glad you went to your regular doctor today as well. When will they know the results of the test they did?
I can't believe I forgot, Mom2, I saw all your posts also about your surgery aftermath and hope all goes well with you there. I don't know what type of surgery you had but those bruises looked awful and I hope you are recovering well! Nice to meet you by the way:)

Mom - Glad you went to see your doctor, and that got a little more comprehensive response than that of your surgeon.

Nice to have the pain meds in case you need them, I hope you continue to feel better every day.

They did not have the birds they were suppose to reserve for me, which is kind of frustrating, but I am over it. I never heard back, to my knowledge, on picking up or transporting chicks, so I hope I didn't miss something.

Mom 2 I am glad you went to your regular Dr. Get some rest and make/let your kids take care of things for a while

Thank you everyone. Sarah, I had my gallbladder removed. Then I coughed on Friday, and tore something open, and as a result- my entire abdomen is black. BLACK, from bleeding insde, yet it was all superficial.

Sam- its weird and I need to figure it out because obviously they are not going to tell me. I woke up feeling GREAT this morning. Cold, which is normal for me, but normal. I have had a cup of coffee and I now feel like complete crud. So, is it the coffee? Am I no longer able to drink my necessary coffee? Or is it because feeling good comes and goes? It will have to be an experiment.
And don't forget No we did NOT turn coyotes out either.

right because those vicious ground hogs were out of control...

Love the Bloggess! Love, love, love the Bloggess! The first post of hers I ever read was the Beyonce'/Giant Metal Chicken post, and I found it because someone on BYC had a link to it in their signature line. Just another way that BYC has enhanced my life.
Here, I'll pay it forward, for those of you not familiar:
http://thebloggess.com/2011/06/and-thats-why-you-should-learn-to-pick-your-battles/
WARNING: The language is ... salty. So if that bothers you, just skip reading it. Personally, I find this post to be pee-my-pants funny.

Nova, if you haven't already, you must read the Blogess post (link above) where Beyonce' (the chicken) was introduced. I believe that when Beyonce' the singer is long forgotten, people will still be sharing the Giant Metal Chicken blog post. At least that's what happens in my own private world where all the rules are made by me.

RaZ needs one for his fence line...
Early morning Flight + misbehaving 8yo = cranky Jaime
I hear at the airport watching these parents ignore the fact that their child is completely disobeying them and yelling back at them.

I loved my airport job..people watching...worn out parents, kids worn out out of control screaming...parent meltdown..parent oblivion..
Not fun when you are on a flight with them...pretty entertaining when you are just passing by them...

Spring has officially arrived and I think I am going to take a big risk and put away my winter boots, snow shovels, and the snow blower. I sure hope I don't jinx us by doing so.

I understand Jamie's frustration with having to be around unruly kids. I hate being around them as well and I think their inept parents irritate me more than the children do. I think all too many parents don't have a clue on how to raise children. While I think child abusers are the worst dregs of humanity, our society has overreacted on what is abuse and what is punishment. Many parents are afraid that if they lift a hand to their child they will be accused of abuse. I've come to absolutely hate hearing the phrase "do you want a time out?" We all know the answer to that and how well it works.

Raz Have to say, I have been thinking about this all night, could be the inspector is telling you if he doesn't SEE any chickens he doesn't have to act on it. If he went by and 'DIDN'T SEE ANY"
unless he asks to see them I would keep them in the garage coop. Maybe he doesn't WANT to SEE them
hu.gif
he can then report he did not see a problem truthfully....

then go about seeing what you can do to change the county, city policy on keeping chickens so there won't be a future problem
big_smile.png
That's kind of the impression that I got. He is a pretty decent guy, he has been here in the past when the bi-polar a-hole on the other side kept calling the city. (Funny, that was about trees as well. Why do people hate my trees?

I think the big girls will go into seclusion for the visit. I've been meaning to put up a curtain on the coop garage window anyway. I don't have to open the garage or even let him look in it. And I don't have to answer any questions either, thank you 5th. amendment.

I think I'll pick up a few nice tall arborvitae and plant them along the fence row. Not a big fan of them but they do provide for some quick enough privacy. I thought about a grape arbour, but that would take too long to grow. I could put some hops over there, the ones on the other side of the yard are knee high already.

ETA: If anyone finds a great big chicken sculpture, let me know.

85 again today. I love this! The peach trees have got some bud swell, the lilac bushes are leafing out, as is the honeysuckle vine.... just hope it stays this way.

I was raised before all this politically correct stuff. My mom used all the old school methods, and by the time I was six I thought she was a small and ineffective person for having to resort to it in order to control a child. I don't remember what I got in trouble for that day, when I came to that conclusion, standing in a corner in our dining room. But I do remember that it forever shaped the way I viewed her. It has nothing to do with the given technique and everything to do with effectively communicating with the individual child. She failed, despite "raising her hand".

I agree Opa. If your child is 8 and bossing you around like a loud thug. Somewhere you went wrong in the whole parenting thing. It's embarrassing and irritating the other folk around you to watch it all go down like that (especially before 6am in the morning). They seriously needed a Nanny 911 intervention.

Raz- I was at the Grand Rapids airport. Now on a layover in Chicago to Arkansas. Unfortunately Bentonville is forecasted for thunderstorms.....I hope I make my meeting or this day would truly be a waste lol

I gave my angora doe a little piece of carrot yesterday.....she ended up having messypoo....and I had to clip around her toucus.

I have these treats that the petshop wanted me to try for free....neither my buck or doe will touch it. (at least I didn't pay for it)

A rabbits regular feed (pellets) should have everything they need. I do give mine treats on the holidays but it's limited to 1/2 a piece of wheat toast or some rolled oats mixed in thier feed or some fresh parsley.

So I think when I get out of work today I'm going to have the hubby help me bring the old coop back up to par. :) I need to replace a couple warped boards on the run and do a thorough cleaning of the coop. Going to fire up the bator again this weekend and hoping to see some chickies popping out from under my broody this weekend! :)

I cant find my camera battery charger...so I went out and tried to take pictures before the camera died.

Everyone looks ugly today. If you see any that will be pullets, let me know.

This white one is what you all determined was the rooster version of the six Isa Browns pullets I got from Tractor Supply..Check out the Serama mix cockerel behind him.

Nova, heres the one you want..looks rather ugly now. Think its a roo? Still want it?
