I think it'd be very hard to really clean anything with a plug for drainage. Those darn ducks (and geese) make SUCH a poopy mess. Even two days of swimming with a couple ducks and there's a layer of poop sludge in the bottom of their pool.

Yup, we have to pump it every couple of weeks, spring summer and fall, and it's a royal PAIN!
(See the little duckling on the side - cute!)

I'm graduating with my vet tech degree in a couple months...does anyone know of any animal hospitals/veterinarians in the Charlotte/Lansing/Eaton Rapids area (and surrounding) that are looking to hire a tech? Or know a place that might need one but isnt officially hiring? I am doing a day of resume distributing next week and wondered if there were any in particular that I should visit. Thanks in advance for any info you might have. :)

Congratulations! It is tough, and the boards are something else. i wish you luck. Don't forget, you arent just looking for a 'job'..make sure you work for a place that shares your values, as well...because it is heck to work for a place that does things that you do not believe in. Find out- do they require pain meds? Do they do declaws/tail amps/ear cropping..etc etc etc..things that you may feel strongly about, the clinic may feel differently.
For your boards..among everything else you have to know- be certain you know your cow and sheep breeds..oh, all those stinkin black and white sheep...lol...a few pigs, as well.

You all have been chatty!
RaZ- did you see my post about the Michigan State Police Post?

Cute pictures.-cute kids. Im jealous of all the work everyone has been getting done this week. raz, I cant sit still...the trips to the store just keep me from going stir-crazy. Yesterday...
I had the worst everything day yesterday, which resulted in me sitting on the bathroom floor, just wishing I would die. I regret the surgery, and the basketball that is now part of my stomach. Today, much much better. I have decided that I just cannot eat food or drink coffee, and I will survive . I have arthritis in my neck and shoulders and all the moving around that I have been doing, using my arms, etc and not my abdomen has pulled this and pushed that out of alignment and pinched nerves and gave me the worst headache..stiff neck..awful,,,my stomach was bloated up to nine month pregnant status, absolutely miserable...and I just had a break down.
Today, i have felt okay. i havent eaten one thing, and only drank water. So, that is the way it is. Fight the hunger feeling, fill up with water...and I will be fine.

I took pictures of the chicks today. I think I got a couple good shots...and about a hundred bad shots. Those little buggers out there are not afraid of me, and attacked the camera string, and wont hold still. lol...

Some indoor babies:

The outdoor brats:

this is one of my stalkers, lol. If it is a girl, I will have to keep her. She is always in my face.

My other little stalker, and our favorite, by far..poor little featherless one...

I cant have a roo, but this little fella is really cool:

ever feel like you are being watched?

Thanks!! Luckily the only class I'll be taking while doing my externships in a couple weeks is the board review class, so I hope it really helps! 10 weeks of preparation for the exams I hope will be enough. The state board exam is a week after graduation, then The national is in July so I'll have to study for that whole month to remember it in the meantime lol. I'm excited to be done w/school but it's also bittersweet because I've made some good friends and we're such a small class (only 13 of us) that we're all pretty close. But it's been a fun ride, learned a lot!! And I cant believe its the end already, I remember 3 years ago thinking OMG 3 more years!! Now I'm like OMG, 3 more MONTHS??

Lucky!
My boards were the same day, back to back. We did nationals and then states. I just remember thinking...wow..nationals were SOOOOO hard...and then I took State...and I was LIKE OH NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO...those were worse. lol

Its good that you have a board review class. I did not.
You do become a family in those years of tears and study and struggle. My class was large..35, so i cannot imagine how close you all are at that small number.

My wife would love nothing better that for me to take my tractor and dig her a pond. Of course it would be under the willows where it's always shady and wet. That means, besides duck poop it would fill up with dirty willow leaves, and mosquito larvae! I would have to invest in a ditch pump then. But, they are pretty cool focal points.

Just sit and cuddle a chick.

I HAVE 11 pips! I have tons of computer work to do today so I keep checking the incubator. I can't wait to see the little guys, they sure are peeping up a storm!

taprock!
YAY! I love hatching babies! Take pictures!

I hate when my hatches happen when i am not at home. it never gets old, watching those little babies come out of those eggs.
missed it..what breeds are you hatching? No, I dont think I missed it, I think I failed to retain it. lol
