Tonight this rainy weather is making me want to cozy up to my three favorite guys, Bryan, Jack and Ben.

Bryan--DH, Jack Daniels and Ben Gay



However Bryan is in the garage tinkering and I need him to help put "Ben" on so I guess it will just be Jack and me for now.

Okay that was weird, my internet connection went silent. The cable TV was working and so was the phone. One of those bundled scams that they sell. It took a couple of tries on the old hard-wired computer and couple of restarts on the wireless router to figure out that someone tried to access my account. Without the password, the system shuts down to prevent intrusion. I am not a suspicious person, but I also don't believe in coincidence.

Today has been a "Twilight Zone" episode.

does anyone know if the clutch of eggs i left to encourage the hens to set is still good, considering the 80 degree temps??? Looks like my mini cochin is trying to set!! Yesterday and today both, she only left the nest while i was there for a brief time, than back up she went!

(she is being nice, and not biting, but it is cute to watch her puff herself up and tell me NO!)

I still think loud, badly played bagpipe music works. OOOH, I wish I lived there, I'd fire up my kiln and send the stinky smoke her way (and the kiln is stinky, which is why i normally fire at night).

I would think so... But what do I know. Some people let eggs sit out for a week or two before incubating... But like I said what do I know.

I did nothing today. Just the necessary stuff... But otherwise, nothing.

I'm reading the ticket I got, I can't tell if it says "Storey of chicks" or "storag of chicks". <sic> It also states that I'm in violation ordinance number "my address here".
Would it be too much to hope for that the officer issued a nonsense ticket knowing that it is unenforceable as written?

I'm thinking that I should take a dozen eggs over to his neighbor (a girl that I grew up with). Or is that just too darn cheeky?

I'm so sorry about your neighbor problems, RaZ. She sounds like a very bitter and mean-spirited person. Probably very unhappy with her life and circumstances and enjoys taking it out on other people. That's one of the reasons I have always made sure I have plenty of room between me and my neighbors, just in case they happen to be that kind of person. I'm blessed to have great neighbors it turns out, but you never know. If there is anything we can do to help, please ask, we're all here for you.

I walked around my pond today just enjoying the beautiful day (no rain here at all!) and watched all the toads mating. It was a toad orgy! One mating ball had 6 toads in it. They were singing away so loudly it was almost deafening. The males are smaller than the females and they seemed to be the only ones singing. And a bazillion eggs! Strings and strings of them. Not sure which ones come from the toads as there are two different kinds. Some very thick strands about the circumfrance of a pencil, all coiled up and full of black eggs. Then there were very thin, delicate strands the circumfrance of very thin spaghetti. The thin ones were not coiled but straight and also full of tiny black eggs. It seemed all the eggs are on the sunny side of the pond. Also a lot of koi and goldfish at the surface. I'm wondering if they eat toad eggs? When the eggs hatch the chickens will have a buffet of tiny toads, which I hate to see, but not much I can do about it.

Mom - I'm so sorry you're feeling badly, please get better soon. I know it's easy to say and hard to do, but you need to eat something!

And take it easy, stop running to the store and trying to do things you normally do. You're ALLOWED to take a nap when you're sick!

Same here. Sometimes doing nothing is necessary. I even went so far as to get a nap in and thankfully it helped.

If you have fish in that pond, they are feasting on those frog and toad eggs. Doesn't matter who laid the eggs, any eggs in the water are fair game.
