Well....my third, one month old chick died last night! I have no idea what's wrong!

Opa brought up what I was wondering, I have a bag of pine shavings that is very fine. I use in the big coop. fortunately

did you get them from TSC or a hatchery?
so sorry you lost so many, how many did yo get in all?
It was nice! not doing a thing. HOWEVER! I really should have cleaned up the house. So, have to do it now.

I got my pots... Gonna fill em with soil... Gonna start seeding...

Ok, I read somewhere that I would need to double plant to ensure germination this year, since I purchased the seeds last year, did not use them all. Is this true? I went over to the easy garden, only it will not let me log in... So, asking here instead. I have plenty of seeds to do this if necessary.

seeds do lose a bit of germination power? don't know what you would call it you should keep unused seed in the fridge.
I would use extra seed

DH is waiting for me to go out and help him find some stuff to fix some issues on the chick tractors. so have a nice eav

I really felt that this wonderful weather held the potential to bite us and now after listening to the weather forecast it certainly appears that it is going to. Temperatures below freezing aren't going to be very good for all the buds and blossoms we now have.

Blasted guineas decided to drive me nuts tonight and fly into trees to roost at dusk. I managed to call 2 of them down and get them into the coop, but Mr and Mrs Duck kept squirting out and I had to chase them back in while the other 3 guineas finally flew back down and ran around squawking. Finally, they are all back in! I think as punishment they don't get to free range tomorrow. After all it's supposed to drop to 19 the next 2 nights and I don't want the idiots in the trees for that!

This post made me look at Weatherbug for my forecast. I'm going to have to put the ducks in the tent or rig a pen in the garage. Looks like I have to break out the heat lamp again.

DH bought a bunch of seeds from Johnny's last year, but due to lack of time decided to wait to use them this year. He commandeered one of the salad drawers in our fridge and put them there. He surrounded the packets with dry uncooked rice to help keep them dry until he's ready to use them.
