I have the same feeling about wall paper in bathrooms...

Or people who put heat vents on the ceiling...

Isn't the ceiling where most vents go? What problem to they cause being on the ceiling? Ours in the mudroom bath is on the ceiling but vented out the side of the house?

Spelt is a hexaploid variety of wheat and has gluten. It has been harvested for 1000's of years. Here are some facts:

Nova, I love Spam. I'll eat it right out of the can.

I got rid of my carpet years ago. I put in solid oak flooring in every room. All that is left is the kitchen, but that will wait until school is done. I'm doing a complete demo/rebuild, right down to the studs.

Welcome new folks, you have found a nice chatty place to visit. Just be warned that we can have scores of posts in a matter of hours. I've worn out 2 pair of reading glasses since I joined.

Heat rises, so, when the vents are blowing hot air down from the ceiling... floors stay cold. Lower walk outs with ceiling vents, floors stay freezing. Here at my house, I can put a cup of milk on the ledge that runs along the wall, or even just set it on the coffee table, in my lower level, and it will remain refrigerated... the heat ducts run thru the crawl space in the attic, and even covered with insulation, the floors remain cold. The vents are also on an outside wall in both bedrooms, and they only get warm if I turn on the space heater. The guy who built this house, he was from down south, and thats where they put them... in the ceiling. This is the first house I have ever seen or lived in here that has the heat ducts in the ceiling instead of at floor level.

Heat rises, so putting heating vents in the ceiling makes no logical sense. Perfect place for a/c vents though. Problem is most places can't either fit or afford 2 sets of vents to have a perfect system. So if your HVAC is in the attic so are most of the vents and if your HVAC is in the basement, then they go in the floors or the in the walls along the floor.

I've never even heard of spelt before...where can you get it, at any grocery store? Because if they taste just like cheez its, I'm sold! I love cheez its, they are my favorite indulgence. I looked at that recipe you posted, I think I would like to try it.

Probably not at any grocery store, sadly. But if you have a co-op, Whole Payckeck (er Whole Foods) or other natural foods store they should have it. Online is also an option http://search.kingarthurflour.com/search.jsp?N=0&rt=p&Ntt=spelt

Sadly since it's not widely available it can be expensive. But, because of its texture, it really is my go-to cracker flour unless I'm making something like papadams.

Oh and maybe I should be clear it's more like the White Cheddar Cheez-its that the yellow ones. Still addictive.

That's why I love Dollar Tree - Everything is a dollar. Including the readers, which are pretty nice considering the price and the fact that I loose them almost immediately. Somewhere there is a little stash of reading glasses that I have lost - probably with the extra socks from the dryer.
