Good post TC.
No artist has ever painted a lilac bush.

Ba-zinga!

hhmmm, maybe I did once, no wait, that was a chicken!

I am not a huge fan of the white ones; they don't seem to smell as good as the purple ones. I just think every farm needs a lilac bush. And every farm kitchen needs a vase full of the flowers on the counter when they're in season.

I agree with you Olive. I have a lilac tree out front in my landscaping next to the house. I love the smell of it as it drifts through the open windows. My grandmother use to have a huge bush along side her garage and as a child, she and I would always clip a bouquet for the kitchen when it was in bloom. My uncle now lives in the homestead and the idiot for some reason cut it down!

Me too! Absolutely lovely paintings!

Opa, I've only been here a short time but I love your morning posts. I've been striving to approach life as optimistically as possible and you show me that that goal is absolutely within reach no matter what is going on. Thank you and good luck with the lottery.

I had just started digging a hole for Granny's flag pole when it started to rain. Now it is raining hard enough to strangle a frog.

sorry you didn't get the flag pole finished but tomorrow is supposed to be nicer.

TC you are so very talented..I also LOVED the first painting, the luminaries are lovely,
the video was a hoot

hope you are feeling better soon, had to laugh at the story about you x, she wasn't to smart was she, the lawyer now HE was smart.
as for lilacs, they are wonderful, but you have to have room for them to spread, as they like to do that, I agree with Olive, every farm should have some. I planted several out back when we moved in and they smell so wonderful in bloom, the rest of the year the chickens love to hide out under them. My grand daughters love to come up and cut flowers. I only have 1 rule, cut a long enough stem so they can go in a vase.

It took me so long to read all the posts I forgot what else I wanted to comment on,

mind just ain't what it used to be

baby chicks are doing ok in spite of the cold, they seem to be all over the brooder so I have decided not to worry about the temp not quite up were it should be

I've never tried to post a video link, hope this works

Ha! That was funny. That's what I love about being retired, sometimes I get up and sometimes I don't!

When I was a kid we had a white lilac bush right by the kitchen window and my Mom loved it. All these years later I finally found a white lilac and planted it in my front yard. I don't think it's getting enough sun because it hasn't gotten very big. It did have two bunches of blossoms last year and as Olive said, they aren't as fragrant as the purple ones. I bought a beautiful lilac bush a few years ago and it's 3' higher than the roof of my house now, but it gets a lot of sun, too. It is a deep dark purple with each flower rimmed in white, but I guess you give up fragrance for beauty because it doesn't have much smell to it.

Well it rained... it was crappy. I did laundry. Drank coffee. Played angry birds. Checked BYC a few times. Commented 2 times... Well I am tired. Need a shower.

I even left the eggs... How bad is that? LOL

I got 3 lotto tickets. Not worried about the 3 bucks. I just won't buy a coffee and a donut in the morning. Will make my own coffee and take it with.

Crossing my fingers. I sure could use a little of that money. I'd be happy if my house were paid off. I wouldn't have to work 7 days a week delivering papers. Could work 3, and then just play with my chickens and grow my produce this year. AND have a few of the trees in back cut down so I'd have more room to grow food. I think I'd need 4 numbers... 4 would work...

SO, I wish every one luck on their lotto ticket. If any of us wins, I am thinking that person needs to pay for a big BYC MI thread only party. LOL. BIG PARTY. On a cruise ship. SOME WHERE WARM. LOL. That'd be so fun. LOL.

I absolutely love the responses of you folk that extol the virtues of the lilac bush. While I consider this plant to be a mere weed, it gladdens me to hear that so many of you associate it with happy memories. Enjoy the blooms, my friends. Enjoy the blooms.

RaZ, I'm sure your neighbor would love to give you a massage!

Hmm, sounds like if you buy a lottery ticket and don't win, you will get consumed by flesh eating bacteria.

I REALLY hope RaZ wins then . . . considering the alternative . . .

I have one and it does help. I didn't use it this time because I'm here alone and was concerned that I might get stuck in it since I was barely able to move.
I loved my first 2 wives, the third was evil personified!

So I'm at "three strikes and yer out" status. Unless I go into extra innings...

You crack me up and I think I have a crush on you. haha!

Hey Raz.....maybe your neighbor could help you with the traction thing, in case you get stuck in it?

I would rather roll naked in poison ivy than have a lilac in my yard.

omg!! thats kind of extreme...lol

LOL! I hope it makes it for you, Jen.

I agree, love them too! I agree they're pretty ugly when not flowering, but ours is a pretty huge tree at this point. It's a white one; always thought I liked the purple ones better, but the white ones match my bathroom really well! And make it smell great.

While I love the smell of lilacs has anyone else noticed that there seems to be a correlation between use as a fragrance and hair color.
