Delivered my parakeets to a perfectly lovely family.

They were very unhappy to be moved and I was very sad to leave them.

The new owners were delighted and I hope it helps my sons allergies.

It's awful when something you love has to leave because of allergies. I do hope he gets better.

Last week Himself started with the allergy thing every time he drank wine - it really worried him, he thought he might have to give it up (no wine with dinner - how unthinkable!). It lasted about 10 days. Then, it stopped, as suddenly as it started.

WOW! I'm so glad I had that effect on someone. I hope that for you it's the same as for me - that whatever is going on around you, the painting work lets your mind and soul, soar.

Do you work in oils (That's my favourite)? Although sometimes I do pen and ink with washes.

It absolutely does. I painted for three hours today and it was like no time had passed at all. I was tense when I started, and feel so relaxed now. I really should paint more often, I used to be not too bad. In high school my art teacher would steal my pieces before I deemed them "done" (because I never would and would just throw them away eventually) and then sell them and put the money back in the art fund. LOL! I never knew about it until after high school when I found a few pieces in my mom's closet. She'd purchased them behind my back because, as she tells it, "It's the only way I could get my hands on them."

I work in acrylics and water colors. I would love to try oils, but wouldn't know what I was doing since the most I ever took were high school art classes and at our little podunk school it was very basic. They only even had art 1 and art 2 for actual instruction. Junior and Senior years it was just "independent study" which basically meant doing whatever the heck you wanted with whatever you'd learned in art 1 or art 2.

Mom 2, sorry about your little chick.

chicken grandma, I am sorry about you having to re home your keets. I had to do the same a few years ago. I had two and I even taught one to say Far Out! My DH and son were allergic to them too.

I had a fox show up at 3:30 today and take a hen that was right by the front porch. My rooster sounded the alarm and I ran out in my sock feet and chased after him. Of course I could not keep up but 15 minutes later the hen comes walking back out of the woods. Luckily she got away somehow. She seems fine. DH and I checked her over as good as we could.

One of my speckled hens has herself all worked up over something today and has been bagawking out there all day! **** bird is about to get her beak taped shut!

Ooops....Did I use a bad word?!?! I don't even remember what word I used LOL....I apologize if it was a bad one!

If she was as talkative and loud as my hens were today I bet she talked the fox out of eating her!

Glad she's ok! That was a close one!

Wow, I am almost 800 posts behind! I wish I could catch up, but there is just no way. Something is wrong with one of our new "chick"s eye, I would appreciate it very much of any of you wouldn't mind jumping over to where I asked about it and posted some pictures, I haven't had any bites on the thread yet and I am very concerned. Thank you! https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/645386/whats-wrong-with-this-eye#post_8701244

I hope to at least catch up some here sometime soon, things have been so busy though and they haven't stopped being so busy yet, so I am off again for now.

Ran into my neighbor at the grocery store yesterday and she told me the chickens come to say hi to her - I was shocked, I had no idea they ever went that far, and have never seen them over there. I realized that normally if I cannot see them I call them, and so today when I stepped out and they were nowhere in sight, I instead when creeping around stealthily. I found them all hanging out in my neighbors' driveway!

I feel terrible. She was certainly nice enough about dropping the hint, but I can't imagine having chickens you don't get eggs or benefits from crapping in your driveway and possibly tearing up garden beds (I hope they haven't!) is particularly welcome.

Dropped a gift bag off at their front door today with half a dozen eggs, a box of 9 homemade truffles, (3 different kinds, even!) and a letter apologizing for the "fowl incursion", and asking to please call so we could talk over what to do. Mainly I am not sure exactly where the property line is, and hope they might be able to tell me. They do have a fence around their back yard, and if it is on the property line it would be fairly easy to continue a fence up from there.

You certainly are very thoughtful, Juise. You don't want to get on the bad side of neighbors! It was very nice of you to take her the gift bag.

Hillbilly - So glad your hen was able to escape! Fox hunting during the day, I wonder if this means the kits are arriving now. I'll have to start being very watchful, I'm sure several fox are still living in my area.

candled my shipped silkie eggs! looks like 19 out of the 30 are developing wonderfully!! I know someone had posted about the air cells not attaching (or something like that) and I could see that on some of them that weren't developing. It's really weird looking! I moved the egg under the light and could see the air pocket moving around in there like a loose bubble. I recandled my silkie eggs and 18 of those are developing nicely as well...so soon there will be a whole lot of this going on..

sarah92480 So we're thinking we have the craftiest mouse/mice on earth here and it/they are laughing at us stupid humans.
I laugh, but it's true that some mice are super smart. I've been laughed at by at least 2 seperate mice, one who ate all my halloween candy, unwrapping it piece by piece very carefully, and putting the wrappers back in the bowl. I was convinced DH had done it, but later that week we followed a cocoa trail down the hall to a hole, where he couldn't fit the can in. In that same trailer, they also used to not only set off the traps before eating the goodies, but they actually TOOK the traps back into the wall with them! Sometimes we could retrieve them, somethimes not. I wonder how many of them are hidden in that wall anyway? I get this picture of a bunch of mice sitting around studying them, telling each other all about it.
