Started with 32....1 hatched.....I think I found the problem. I had bought a liner for the bator. The liner had little bump outs which lined up with the bottom vents. Never thought to cut them open so it could pull air in from the bottom. Stupid.....at least most of the eggs were freebies. I sure hope this fixes the problem. I've got shipped eggs due to show up this week. Sure would be nice to get something to hatch.:(

I am so sorry Elliemae

Now I have a question for you men.

Why must you all- or maybe you don't...maybe its just my husband...hmmm, I should ask the WOMEN this question instead...

WHY does everything have to be so complicated?
It's the same as you gals remembering something we did SIX years ago and still manage to bring it up today.

I'm gonna take the little ones out side today! It's so sunny and I figure if I keep them out of the wind, today would be a good day as any other. Can't wait to see how they will react.

Yesterday I had a hen that was acting just a little weird. She was hanging around the coop when the rest were free ranging and wasn't really acting like herself. I went over, picked her up, held her, checked her over, rubbed her underside and gave some extra attention. Didn't really know what was up. I go to lock them up and there is an egg along side the pen on the outside of it. Must not of been able to find the pen door since we moved & rotated the coop. Then this morning I got the most misshaped egg I ever received. I'll post a pic later. Maybe it was from the same hen....poor thing.

Elliemae....so sorry to read your post.

Raz.....Water Under The Bridge is Water Under The Bridge for me.....life is too short to be rehashing old stuff, especially when hashing it got you no where in the first place.....wasted time & energy for me.

swampducks - (hoping I've got the right person) If the main difference with oils and acrylics is the dry time it's probably best I stick with acrylics. I'm too impatient. At times even acrylics dry too slowly for me. LOL!

Well, fast drying can be a disadvantage too! Sometimes I like to spend time blending and if it dries too fast . . .not so good. But for me, the main issue is how the colours change when they dry. Acrylics dry darker, so I'm never sure exactly how dark they will end up. Plus, I think oils have much more vibrancy (most acrylics are opaque) - I can get some really gorgeous skies (and water) by layering transparent colours over one another.

I bought some alkyds, because they are a modified oil paint with a polymerized resin so they dry much faster than oils but have the same transparency. But, it feels like you are painting with honey - so if/when I use then, it's just to add to the oils to speed it up a bit. I gave all my acrylics to my SIL, I just was never happy with the results - guess you need to practice with whatever medium one chooses.

If you find your acrylics dry too slowly - do what I do - have 5-6 paintings going on at once!

That is my goal for my chicken breeding. Idk why, i just think they're cute. if i can get any of my eggs to hatch..... dying to know if cocoa's offspring will be as adorably round as she is!

Opa, do you think her step father would use one of those one of those little ovens that sit on the countertop? I'm not sure, but don't some of them have timers on them? Or mabie this is just his way of fenagaling her into coming over and cooking, for company?

Babigyrl22, that's so sad. Definitely that time of year again.

she may need another companion, i don't know how she would take to a stranger though. I guess you will have to just see how it goes.

Sad morning. My DH went to go let out the chickens and to his horror he realized he had accidently locked one of the silkies (Beullah) out of the coop last night. She was in the run seriously injured (neck broken). We are not sure if she did it to herself or if something tried to pull her through the chicken wire but I had to put her down this morning.

I wonder if I should search for another silkie to keep her sister (Mavis) company. They were inseperable.

I'm so sorry.....

Problem is: I'm not really a work on it a little bit here and there kind of gal. I'm an all or nothing gal. A paint until I fall over from exhaustion because once I start something I don't want to stop until it's finished kind of gal. I'm not good at moderation. I'll start a quilt and be sewing through an aching back and pounding headache twelve hours later because "just this one more thing before I stop..." I have a hard time switching back and forth between different projects. It's definitely one of my weaknesses; or strengths depending on how you look at it, I guess.
