Thanks HH. Pics would be great if you find them.
Also, DH is wondering how the cattle panels hold up to the snow load in winter. Thanks!

They do very well in winter. Just be sure there is a support beam down the center. I will try to find the link where I got the idea from. The guy has a great guide on how to make these.

Those are very nice runs, HH! DH likes how you did them and thinks they would be great to use. Thanks!

The one I saw in Coopersville was a hoop house coop. It was in the middle of their field and they had a framed chicken tractor run attached to the front of them. We went down a different road where you could still see it and I could see into the back and I saw bales stacked up. From where they were in the field and how these were made, we both think they keep their chickens there permanently.

I have a fool proof method of tear-free onion chopping: I make The Man do it. Hahaha!

Hahahaha! I don't actually mind it that much, usually I just try to chop fast and get it into whatever it's going into and my hands and face washed. It was bad when I worked at the restaurant, though, when you might need to chop a whole lot of onions, because we prepared everything fresh. Omg. Some people wore swim goggles.

It was one day when I had just chopped umpteen million onions, and came out front for a breath of fresh air before finishing, that an older gentleman, quite startled by my appearance, stopped me. I explained that I was dicing onions and he told me the matchstick trick. I was very excited when it actually helped quite a bit! I would stick like 5 of 'em between my teeth, hehe.

Where is the coffee? What flavor is it? Well what roast? I have not had coffee in over a week because of the gall bladder and I have to drink vicariously thru other drinkers...

Flavor?

Hehe. Fresh burr-ground french-pressed Sumatran here! Black, of course.

I think he is fully capable of handling it on his own but his calling is probably his way of making me feel good and important.

I will call my parents for things like that, things I really could figure out on my own, or in 5 minutes on Google. I don't ask them to make them feel needed, I call them because I would rather learn from my father how to stretch a screen-printing screen, or build an A-frame, or from my mother how to properly trim that tree, layer that bed, or prepare that dish, than from someone random on the internet.

It makes me feel connected to them even though they are far away, and it makes it feel like they are involved in the things I am doing in my life. I value the longer explanation in their own words, in their own voices, far above a clear cut step-by-step on the web.

None of this stuff seems to work for me with the onions (though I'll have to try the matchstick).

I think I'm going to just try using swim goggles next.

After that "flame burns off the fumes" comment, I want to make sure that it is clear that the matchsticks in your mouth trick is done not on fire!

Olive, Opa, how long can you keep homemade jams? I have some jars that are going on 3 years old.

I have heard that 1 year is the rule, though I do not toss my canned goods after a year.

Well, I have been on a google mission.

Thank you for sharing this information, fuzzy, I am glad to know it and hope not to need it. By the way, you could also add epsom salts to the bath soak to help. I do that for babies for the same reason.
