Yes, I know, it is real poison for small animals >.< I try to do what I can when I can, though. I like to at least give them a chance. I didn't see any wound upon it, but I know it doesn't take much. I have it in a towel in a closed basket at the moment, and I will see if I can get all the cats rounded up for the evening before I let it go.

Olive, if you are wanting an intelligent all purpose farm dog you might want to look into a black mouth cur. The movie "Old Yeller" was based on story about a black mouth cur. Very loyal, great family dog. Work around livestock very well, easily trained. My oldest son recently bought one and says its the best dog he have every owned.

Thanks, Opa. I'll have to look into them in the future. We actually need a herding dog so we've reserved a Border Collie pup.

I just had the bejesus scared out of me.

I backed the trailer of compost into the back yard and closed the gate. Dogs were going nuts so I let them outside while I got ready to unload 2 yards of compost. Used the 3 1/2 ton floor jack to get the tongue of the trailer off the truck hitch. At almost the exact same instant, Maggie, my Golden, walked under the trailer and the freaking jack collapsed, dropping the trailer on her.

She was pinned under the front of the trailer.

Of course the freaking jack was pinned as well. I don't know how I got the jack out but some how I got the trailer lifted high enough for her to get out from under.

Maggie is OK, I checked every inch of her and no injuries, no tender spots, no sign of trauma at all. I know she is fine because she took my glove and wanted to play keep away. The other 2 dogs are cowering because I was yelling and cussing during the whole collapse. We are all in the house now and the pups got lunch meat for a treat and are now calmed down from my panic. I am still shaking like a leaf.

I learned 2 lessons: 1) never let the dogs in the yard were heavy things are being moved, and 2) never buy any equipment that says Sears or Craftsman.

Glad Maggie's okay. Cheap tools are almost never worth the savings up front. Hubby's had a semi fall on him because of a cheap jack that his company bought. Dumb donkeys are always saying "why would we pay $xxxx when we can get one for $xx". Oh, I don't know, so as to not kill off your employees?!

to all the newbies.
Love all the pics.
Happy Birthday, Silly.
Too many other posts to remember what I wanted to respond to.
Have a good day, all.

Update:
I just went out to see what was what. The trailer fell onto a piece of wood that Maggie had "fetched" over to play with. It was a chunk of firewood about 6-7 inches in diameter. The centre tow beam was sitting on that. Not sure if it was there before I got the tongue up or after, but that chunk of wood kept the tongue from completely touching the ground.

The label on the jack says "Professional" and "Made in China".

The adrenalin has worn off and my back is starting to complain. I think tonight will be a drinking night.
Maggie is on the couch acting like a queen, while Bella, who wasn't near the accident, thinks she is in trouble because of the way I yelled. It would be kind of funny if it hadn't scared the crap out of me. Everybody is getting extra loving tonight.

Glad Maggie is okay, Raz, that sounds terrifying.

Okay, so... I am going to put this out there. Although I am not hoping too much that it will help, I want to try, and hope you will please contact me. I have apparently offended someone in this thread to the extent of reporting at least several or more of my posts. I had no intention at any point of upsetting anyone, and I do not want to. I would like to ask whoever it was to please PM me so we can work things out, and I can avoid doing anything further to be so bothersome to them. No hard feelings on my part about the reports, I would just like to be able to understand what i have done, at this point I have no idea. I would like to make good. I swear I am a fairly reasonable person, I don't hold grudges, and would very much appreciate just being able to talk to the person who has a problem with me. Thanks.

What a terrible story, glad you guys are all ok!! I know what you mean about Sears & Craftsman stuff though...it used to be really good quality, last forever type stuff. Now it's just garbage. BF has a lawn tractor that's dying after only a couple years and keeps breaking tools. Its unfortunate, they used to have really good stuff. Jerks.

It wasn't me. I enjoy our bantering.
I hope the offended party PMs you and you both can resolve whatever it was.
