I just had the bejesus scared out of me.
I backed the trailer of compost into the back yard and closed the gate. Dogs were going nuts so I let them outside while I got ready to unload 2 yards of compost. Used the 3 1/2 ton floor jack to get the tongue of the trailer off the truck hitch. At almost the exact same instant, Maggie, my Golden, walked under the trailer and the freaking jack collapsed, dropping the trailer on her.
She was pinned under the front of the trailer.
Of course the freaking jack was pinned as well. I don't know how I got the jack out but some how I got the trailer lifted high enough for her to get out from under.
Maggie is OK, I checked every inch of her and no injuries, no tender spots, no sign of trauma at all. I know she is fine because she took my glove and wanted to play keep away. The other 2 dogs are cowering because I was yelling and cussing during the whole collapse. We are all in the house now and the pups got lunch meat for a treat and are now calmed down from my panic. I am still shaking like a leaf.
I learned 2 lessons: 1) never let the dogs in the yard were heavy things are being moved, and 2) never buy any equipment that says Sears or Craftsman.
